Huawei Nova 2s features 6GB RAM, but less powerful chipset than an Honor V10

This has been a dominating smartphone release chain for Huawei. First came the Honor V10, followed by the extremely affordable Honor 7X, and now we have the Nova 2s. The company wants to let its competitors know that it means business, which is why another handset sporting an 18:9 aspect ratio has been released.

The Huawei Nova 2s features a 6-inch LCD with a resolution of 2160 x 1080. Just like Honor 7X, the Nova 2s features a home button at the bottom despite the small percentage of bezels. The fingerprint sensor is also embedded in this physical button, so you will not have to reach the back of the device every time you want to unlock the phone. The metal-clad smartphone features an octa-core-processor-running Kirin 640 chipset.

It is definitely not as powerful as the Kirin 970 powering the Honor V10, Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, but it should do the job just fine and dandy. You will also be able to choose between 4 and 6GB RAM versions of the device, with the pleasant surprise being that all models will have 128GB of native storage and a microSD card slot. Another pleasant surprise is that there is a headphone jack on this phone.

The Huawei Nova 2s also features a dual-camera system comprising of a f/1.8, 16 and 20MP shooter, but none of these is a telephoto zoom lens. The 16MP sensor is your regular RGB one whereas the 20MP one is a monochrome camera for improved low-light performance. At the front, you get a f/2.0, 20MP camera one and curiously a 2MP sidekick.

There is also a 3,340mAh present underneath the metal frame.

Pricing details

Huawei Nova 2s will be available in the Black, Gray, Red, Rose Gold and Blue color variants, with prices starting as follows:

  • 2,699 Yuan ($408) for the 4GB RAM/128GB storage version
  • 2,999 Yuan ($453) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage version

Which version will be you interesting in getting? Remember, both of them feature the same levels of internal storage.
