Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro get Android Oreo treatment, revealing their involvement in the Project Treble

Now that Huawei will officially start selling its devices in America starting from 2018, the company will need more than functionality and powerful internals running in the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro to pull off a win in this country. Timely software updates are also going to be a key factor and apart from the Pixel 2 lineup, no other Android phone manufacturer is able to push out software updates at a faster pace.

This all might change with the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. Leaked screenshots have revealed that both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are a part of Project Treble and have been slapped with the Android Oreo system update. This is going to be the ideal time to receive this software update since Huawei’s Richard Yu said that the company will officially be announcing its entry in America during CES 2018.

For those unaware of Project Treble, here are the important bits you should know. Project Treble is able to unify and standardize the basic Android drivers and APIs. This aids developers because now, they will only have to deal with porting the front end, instead of wasting their time and valuable resources porting features to specific hardware, which is often done with custom ROMs.

Being a part of Project Treble will also have one other significant advantage, and that is speeding up Android updates to a huge degree. There is a high probability that the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be running the stock version of Android Oreo, so the interface is going to be nice, clean and free from the stuff that you’re used to seeing on custom skins.

This move will also allow both flagships to run smoother as none of the bloatware is going to come in between and take away processor and RAM resources from the phone’s specification list.
