Huawei found fiddling with the Benchmark Results of its Smartphones

Huawei is in the news these days for some of the right reasons and a few of the wrong reasons. A few days back, Huawei was caught faking its camera results. Huawei was using the pictures shot by DSLR cameras to advertise as its phone’s camera result. It looks like Huawei doesn’t want to come out of the hot waters. Just like Huawei faked its camera samples in its ads, it also fiddles with the benchmark results of its phones.

Benchmark results have been playing an essential role to determine the power performance of a smartphone. Chinese phone makers these days rely mostly on the benchmark results. Every other Chinese phone maker wants its phone to set a higher benchmark to beat its competitors. Huawei doesn’t want to be left out of the competition, so it decided to fiddle with the benchmark results too.

Huawei Cannot Stay Silent!

The said information was revealed while Dr. Wang Chenglu, President of Software at Huawei’s Consumer Business Group discussed the need for the benchmark results. Huawei emphasized that the benchmark results these days have moved away from reality and they do not represent full experience. Huawei official told Anandtech that it uses benchmark detection software to produce the best results because it wants to stay relevant in the competition. Dr. Wang said, “others do the same testing, get high scores, and Huawei cannot stay silent”.

Like the unrealistic benchmark results put up by most of the Chinese manufacturers, Huawei also shows its half-baked results.

TSince vendors in China rely on “unrealistic numbers” to promote their phones, Huawei tries to keep up with posting its own similarly half-baked results.

Huawei has now promised the tech influencers that the company will let the third parties verify its benchmark data in near future. Huawei has already unveiled its Kirin 980 SoC. The company is gearing up towards the launch of its Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro on October 16 in London.
