How To Root Moto X 2014 on Android 5.0 Lollipop

Moto X was undoubtedly yet surprisingly the very first device to receive the OTA update of Android 5.0 Lollipopwhile Google own Nexus line is waiting for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, this device has already running such version. The update was rolled out for 2nd GEN Moto X, means Moto X 2014, by Motorola a couple of days ago with the model number XT1095, for all the users, luckily we have XDA to grab and post such things on without even asking. The XDA member, graffixnyc grabbed and Mirrored to OTA, so every one else can enjoy this update too. However, since this was an official update, your device must be un-rooted and running the Stock Firmware on your Moto X 2014thus turning your device to completely stock and left you to search for rooting method for this device again.

The only device which received the rooting method while running Android 5.0 Lollipop was Nexus 9, by the inventor of all Rooting, Chainfire. Now once again, Motorola has won the race as Moto X 2014 has received the rooting method on Android 5.0 Lollipop, once again Chainfire has provided his services and rooted this device too, however in a complete different way, The good news about this method is that, it will root your device with just one-click, thus eliminating the danger of going through complex steps to root the device. Now that you have made your mind, let’s go through the preparations and rooting method of this device.

Early Preparations:

1. This is only for Moto X 2014!

This custom ROM is only for the device mentioned above. Make sure that your model number matches the one listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.

2. Battery should be charged at least over 60%

Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.

3. Backup everything!

Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below.

4. Update your device to Android 5.0 Lollipop!

Since this rooting method ia only for Android 5.0 Lollipop, you’ll need to update your device to Android 5.0 Lollipop, follow the link to do so: Link
