How to get gigabit LTE speeds on your Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+?

Are you ready to push the performance of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ to the next level? Well, if you mean processing performance, then no, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will continue to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 equivalent but there are other ways to check out the performance of a smartphone.

Verizon Wireless, the American-based carrier is ready to roll out an update to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. According to a different source, Verizon Galaxy S8 owners have already received this update. Now, which update might you ask? The update to upgrade your phone’s network speeds to gigabit LTE.

The new software build says that Verizon’s Galaxy S8 is receiving the update named G950USQU2BQK5, while the new build number for the Galaxy S8+ is G955USQU2BQK5. The update does bring gigabit Class LTE support for both phones, but at the same time, the update brings the latest November security patch to the two phones that were released earlier this year.

Please note that Verizon has not officially launched its Gigabit Class LTE service right now, but the carrier says that the upgraded network should go live before the end of 2017. With only three weeks remaining for 2017 to officially draw to a close, we’d say that this is worth the wait.

Thanks to Gigabit Class LTE, owners of compatible smartphones will be able to enjoy download speeds of up to 1Gb per second. Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are able to support such speeds because they feature a Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is integrated with an X16 LTE modem.

This 4G modem is the fastest one present on smartphones so no doubt you will be able to enjoy fast wireless networking speeds. Now all that remains to be seen is when will Verizon be publishing its press release detailing its Gigabit Class LTE service.
