Galaxy S9 mini could the third member of the smartphone lineup next year

A smaller version of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ could be unveiled next year. According to rumors, Galaxy S9 mini could be getting a release on its own alongside the two flagship cousins in 2018.

Samsung has not officially acknowledged the existence of a Galaxy S9 mini yet, but the company will provide an evasive answer even if they were asked about the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+. Most publications might be skeptical over the release of the Galaxy S9 mini.

The last official release of a lesser-performing mobile device featuring the same name as a flagship was the Galaxy S5 mini. After that, we have not heard of any developing stories related to a smartphone that featured the ‘mini’ model name.

We might be getting a surprise considering the prices of current-generation flagship models. Looking at the price of the iPhone X, we have reached a new plateau of flagship smartphone pricing, and popular manufacturing companies are going to be on the clock in making their devices even better than before. Soon, we could be moving into an era where instead of smartphones, we’re looking at ‘intelligent phones’.

The price void that is left behind the flagship models and models like the OnePlus 5 and the upcoming OnePlus 5T could be filled with the release of the Galaxy S9 mini.

Specifications of the phone could include the Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845, but with less internal storage and RAM. It could feature an Infinity Display but with a smaller screen size, which will naturally mean a smaller battery capacity in the end.
