Samsung released the Galaxy S7 back in March 2016. The Galaxy S7 came along with the S7 Edge. The S7 followed the same design language as the S6, however, the S7 Edge came with major design changes over the Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S7 Edge had more refined edges. The phone was slimmer and had a better form factor then the S6 Edge. Galaxy S7 Edge had a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution. The front and back of the phone was protected by Gorilla Glass 4.
Galaxy S7 Edge was a water and dust resistant device with IP68 certification. Samsung powered it up by Exynos 8996 SoC. There was a RAM of 4GB in this phone. The internal storage was 32/64/128GB. The Galaxy S6 Edge lacked an SD card but the Galaxy S7 Edge had it. There was a 12MP shooter at the back and a 5MP on the front. It had a battery of 3,600 mAh. It ran on Android Marshmallow out of the box. The phone is currently running on Android Oreo.
The LineageOS 16 is based on AOSP sources. LineageOS 16 is the most popular aftermarket Android Pie. This ROM has already made it to hundreds of Android phones. The LineageOS ROMs are meant to give you stock Android experience. These ROMs do not have any applications installed inside. Users even have to install the applications like Google Play Store and Play Services manually. The LineageOS 16 is a great ROM for the S7 Edge owners who are willing to get their hands on the Android Pie. The S7 Edge is not going to get the official Android Pie update. The only way to get Android Pie on this phone is via LineageOS 16.
The available LineageOS 16 for S7 Edge has got most of its features intact. The Audio and Video Playback is working fine. It has got the USB Tethering working as well. The Fingerprint scanner also works fine. The ROM can make calls, run the Mobile data, and also send messages. The Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth are also working fine. Camera and Camcorder are the only two features that are partially working.
Before installing the LineageOS 16, the Galaxy S7 Edge owners must keep in mind that no matter how stable a custom ROM is, in the end, it is a custom ROM and it can result in any kind of bug any moment. If you have an experience of flashing custom ROMs, the installation should not be a difficulty for you. I suggest the newbies pay extra attention to the installation procedure in order to avoid an unlikely situation.
That’s all with the installation of LineageOS 16 on the Galaxy S7 Edge. If something goes wrong with the ROM installation, you can flash a stock ROM to quickly recover the phone. If you have any queries or questions, reach out to me using the comments section below.
