Samsung has successfully upped its game with the help of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus after the Galaxy Note 7 nightmare. Things didn’t go well with the last year’s flagship Note device from the South Korean giant. Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s fire fiasco caused a great dent on the company’s reputation. Samsung discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 and focused on future flagship devices instead. For a moment, the news and speculations hinted that Samsung might end up discontinuing its Note brand. This news will put aback when rumors regarding the Galaxy Note 8 started pouring in.
Samsung started working on the Galaxy Note 8 (Baikal) earlier this year. The device is all set to make its first appearance this year. On the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, we saw Samsung’s new design language, the new schematics Samsung can probably go for, and a number of new features in terms of hardware and software. After seeing the Galaxy S8, it is relatively easy to anticipate what the Galaxy Note 8 can come up with or what it can offer. Since the loss particularly happened to the Note lineup, Samsung has the tendency to go an extra mile to come up with a device that can leave the consumers in a surprise. So far, the leaks and rumors have pointed towards an amazing device. Let’s go through all the information that we have regarding the upcoming Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to equip a 6.3-inch UHD or 4K display with the edges on both sides. There isn’t a flat-screen variant of the device expected as Samsung didn’t release it with the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 7 either. A leaked screen protector suggests the screen ratio to be 16:9. Galaxy Note 8 will most likely come with infinity display just like we saw on the Galaxy S8.
If the screen resolution is to be believed, then the Galaxy Note 8 will be Samsung’s very first smartphone to come out with a 4K screen running on the top.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will follow the design of the Galaxy S8. It will come with a dual-edge display with no home-button on the front. As far as the fingerprint scanner is concerned, it is unclear whether Samsung is going to embed it in the screen or put it at the back. The fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S8 is quite uncomfortable to reach. If Samsung goes with the same on the Galaxy Note 8, then the Galaxy Note 8’s big size will make it more difficult for the users to tap the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be equipped with Samsung’s latest Bixby agent. The Galaxy Note 8 will come with an expandable storage. A microSD card slot will be there for this purpose. USB Type-C connector is more likely to be there. Note devices are incomplete without an S-Pen, So, expect an S-Pen under the hood. Galaxy Note 8 will be water and dust proof as well.
Keeping in view the latest hardware available at the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be powered up with Exynos 8895 or the Snapdragon 835 CPU. A RAM of 6 GB will be in place accompanying the internal storage of 64 GB or 128 GB. A few leaks have suggested this device to have a battery of 3300 mAh.
According to a KGI Analyst, the Galaxy Note 8 is going to have Samsung’s very first dual-lens camera setup. This means Galaxy Note 8 will set the new camera standards for Samsung’s upcoming smartphones. The analyst also claims that Galaxy Note 8’s dual camera will have 3x optical zoom alongside 12 MP wide-angle CIS supporting 2PD and 13 MP telephoto CIS, dual 6P lens and also OIS. Galaxy Note 8’s dual-lens camera setup is expected to be much better than that of the iPhone 7 Plus. The analyst named Kuo calls it the most important upgrade in the next Samsung Note flagship.
Android O isn’t going to be available until late 2017. Galaxy Note 8’s release is just around the corner. The phone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and its Android O update will be imminent once Google rolls out the firmware officially.
Galaxy Note 8 is all set to come out of the curtains in the last week of August 2017. The release date of the Galaxy Note 8 has been confirmed by Samsung Mobile’s head, DJ Koh. The phone will make its way to the market in the month of September. Keeping in view the price of previous Galaxy Note phablets, we expect its price to fall somewhere between $800-$950.
