Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) models might not be given their due attention from fans but that is because they have not heard the good parts yet, which are a lot by the way. Samsung is making sure that both devices get a lot of things from the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ and while that does not mean the same level of firepower, there are other things to look forward to. Check out our in-depth roundup to read everything there is to know about the smartphone lineup.

Why do we keep saying that the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) will feature nearly the same design as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+? It is because that is exactly what they are going to feature. The Infinity Display that was found on these flagships will also be found on the same phones that are going to be announced very soon. This will mean that the design will look near identical to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
The home button will not be present at the front because of the decreased bezels but it will be shifted at the back of both phones. If you’re worried about the positioning then Samsung has changed how you will access the home button via the fingerprint reader.
It will be probably in the same way how you will be unlocking your future Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ so do not worry about making unusual shapes with your fingers and hands. The Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ will have an 18:9 aspect ratio with a Super AMOLED display and a resolution of 2220 x 1080.
These specs are nothing that we have not seen before but the Galaxy A8+ will have a 6-inch display while the smaller brother could sport a 5.8-inch screen and the same resolution plus display technology.
Both phones are going to feature the Samsung Exynos 7885 chipset. Though it is not going to be faster than the Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835, it will still be able to hold its own against the chipsets in its class. If you will be looking for a smooth Android OS experience, that is exactly what you will be getting.
The RAM bits is something that has remained in the shadows and even till now, we are not familiar with the internal storage and RAM that will be found in the Galaxy A8. For the Galaxy A8+ however, it has been reported to come in three hardware models.
Most probably the smaller phone will also come with the same hardware but in order to be absolutely sure, we will be waiting for the official announcement. There are going to be no dual cameras present at the back, so don’t be disappointed if you do not manage to find your favorite smartphone bits being absent from these two phones.
Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be the first Galaxies to get dual front-facing cameras. We have yet to see how this will help other than photography means, but we’ll allow Samsung to keep this news hidden from us in an attempt to surprise us at the very end.
As for the specifications of both upcoming phones, the dual front camera will have a 16MP f/1.9 + 8MP f/1.9 selfie setup while the rear camera will be a 16MP f/1.7 shooter. 4K video support could be provided, as long as the processor and sensor are able to keep up with this demanding resolution and framerate.
Mid-ranged phones have started to provide support for 4K video support so it will be a shame if premium devices like this are left out.
Both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) will feature everything you want from a phone. Starting from a headphone jack, these phones might not have a dedicated Bixby button, but they sure will have everything in terms of wireless connectivity and a bunch of other ports.
It is yet to be confirmed if the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be supported on the DeX Station, but you will get a 3,500mAh battery for the bigger device, while a 3,000mAh cell will be found inside the smaller brother. You should also expect Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, a powerful LTE modem, NFC, Samsung Pay support, GPS and all the other wireless connectivity features that you find on devices these days. For the charging port, you get a Type-C USB connection.
The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) have been reported to come in three color models:
No other color models have been reported from leaks so I guess this is what we will be getting in a short amount of time.
Price of the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) could start from $499 and make its way up if you choose a higher RAM and storage model. Release date details have been kept in the shadows too, but there is a chance that both phones are unveiled at the CES 2018 trade show. Since Samsung has been reported not to reveal its Galaxy X and Galaxy S9 flagships at this event, this is the only lineup we can think of right now.
So far, this is all the information we have for you and will continue to update it accordingly. If Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are everything these leaks have reported so far, would you fancy picking one up as your daily driver?
