For 2018, your iPhones will get extremely fast LTE chips from Qualcomm and LTE

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are the fastest smartphones you will see in 2017 but if you’re still upset that they do not feature those powerful LTE chips, then you will have to wait for newer models to arrive.

According to a new report from KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm and Intel will be supplying LTE modems to Apple for its 2018 iPhone lineup, which will be announced during September next year.

“New baseband chips from Intel & Qualcomm will significantly boost transmission speed of new 2H18 iPhone models thanks to supporting 4×4 MIMO antenna design: We believe that 2H18 new iPhones will upgrade baseband chips from Intel’s XMM 7480 and Qualcomm’s MDM 9655 in 2H17 to Intel’s XMM 7560 and Qualcomm’s SDX 20. As both new chips support 4×4 MIMO technology, compared to only 2×2 MIMO in 2H17, we anticipate LTE transmission speeds will increase significantly. We believe Intel will supply Apple with 70-80% or more of required baseband chips.”

For the first time, Intel will be supplying Apple with the bulk of the orders primarily the latter is involved with a legal battle with Qualcomm.

“2H18 iPhone models won’t only offer faster LTE transmission speed: We predict that at least one of the 2H18 new iPhone models will support dual-SIM dual standby (DSDS). Unlike existing DSDS phones, which commonly support LTE+3G connections, we believe next-generation iPhone models will support LTE+LTE connections, in a bid to enhance the user experience.”

Apple’s iPhones will not feature 5G modems as it will still take sometime for this next-gen platform to arrive. Qualcomm is already developing 5G chips but even so, it will be pointless during the initial phase of their official release.

Now for those that were complaining about slower speeds on iPhones for 2017, start saving up money for next year’s iPhone.
