Fix “process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” [ Part 2 ]

Here’s how you can fix the most habitual error on Android devices “process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” The main reason behind this error is that when you are trying to use apps like Browser, Gmail, Google Play etc and your device fails to connect to Google server. This is when you start seeing such error messages, So today I thought it’s time to help you guys and tell you how you can fix process com.google.process.gapps has stopped on Android devices.

Following are all the possible resolutions that will help you get rid of this error.

Method 1: Uninstall all Google play Store updates:

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap on Apps-> All Apps.
  • Scroll down and find “Google Play Store” app.
  • Tap on that app, you’ll see a button specified as “Uninstall updates” Tap on it.
  • Tap on the Ok button to continue.

Method 2: Clear the Google Services Framework cache:

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap on Apps-> All Apps.
  • Scroll down and find “Google Services Framework” app.
  • Tap on that app, you’ll see a button specified as “Force stop” Tap on it.
  • Tap on “Clear Cache” Button.

Method 3: Check your Gmail Account.

If you have recently changed your Gmail account password then you need to re-enter it by going into Settings -> Accounts. Once you’ve entered you latest credentials of your Gmail account your Google service will start working properly.

Method 4: Clear Dalvik cache:

If you have a rooted device then need to clear “dalvik cache “. It will help you fix “process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” Follow the steps below.

  • Boot your device into ClockworkMod Recovery.
  • Tap on Advanced.
  • Tap on clear ‘dalvik cache’.

Method 5: Factory Reset your device. [ Samsung Users ]:

Before performing the factory reset you must try following links to create a complete backup of your device.

  1. Backup your Contacts, Call Logs, SMS Messages and copy the media content to your computer.
  2. Install TWRP recovery on your Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.
  3. Create a Nandroid and EFS backup using the TWRP recovery.
  • Turn off your device.
  • Now press and hold home+Power+Volume Up key.
  • Release the power button once you see the logo, but keep holding home and Volume up keys.
  • Now when you see Android logo, let go both buttons.
  • Use the volume down button to navigate and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  • Now use the power key to select the option.
  • You have to select ‘Yes‘ when you’ll be prompted to next menu.
  • Now wait for the process to be completed, once it’s done highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press power button to select it.
  • All Done.

Method 6: Wipe Cache Partition:

  1. To do so, simply turn off your phone.
  2. Now turn it on while pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key.
  3. Leave the keys as soon as your device boots up.
  4. Now using Volume Up & Down keys navigate to Wipe Cache Partition, select it using Power Key and wipe it.
  5. Once you’ve wiped it, reboot your device and check if your issue has been resolved or not.
  6. That’s all.
