Android update season is at peak right now. All the smartphone manufacturers are rolling out updates for their flagship devices one after another. Samsung also seems to be quite active in that regard. Samsung has updated the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5 to Android Nougat.
Updating your phone to latest firmware is always the best choice as the latest firmware brings a lot of goodies on-board. It improves the device security, fixes all previous bugs, makes the device more smooth and fast. Apart from that, new features and UI changes are worth noting. The new firmware just doesn’t work sometimes up to the expectations and it can cause a few things to crash once you are running it.
Android Nougat Update on the Note 5 is not working up to the mark. A number of users reported some of the features not working properly. The issues on Note 5 after updating to Android Nougat 7 include WiFi not working well, Camera failed, Keyboard coming up with issues, bootloop or the phone being stuck in the boot-logo, it also drains the battery faster and sometimes freezes. The Note 5 may also get slow right after flashing the Nougat firmware. You may also find the phone rebooting randomly upon installing the Nougat firmware on it.
All these issues are not something that can’t be solved. We have stumbled upon several solutions and came up with a list of them. Resolve the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 issues after Android Nougat Update by going through the following list given below.
Before jumping up to the problems and their fixes, you may want to go through these guides: Install Official Android 7.0 Nougat on Galaxy Note 5 & How to Root Galaxy Note 5 on Android Nougat.

If your Galaxy Note 5 is having WiFi connectivity issues, there are a few things that you can do to get this issue resolved.
Solution: Camera failed issue is the most annoying as it isn’t easy to tackle at all. To fix this issue, you can try clearing the cache of your phone by rebooting it into recovery mode. If the cache clearing doesn’t fix your phone, you can try using a third party camera application from the Play Store e.g. Google Camera.
If your phone fails on the third party camera application as well, you will find yourself out of luck as this will point towards a hardware issue. You might have to get your camera lens replaced.
Solution: A number of users have reported that the Keyboard on Android Nougat is different from the one they had on Android Marshmallow. The keyboard is less customisable and it doesn’t have many options that they found in the previous firmware. Unfortunately, there is no proper method to get that keyboard back but you can definitely try a different keyboard application like SwiftKey from the Google Play Store. You can also try using Google Keyboard if it meets your needs.
The bootloop issue is quite common, it can be sorted out by applying multiple fixes.
Solution#1: Clear cache of your phone after updating to Nougat
Solution#2: Wipe factory data/factory data reset
This option may not seem the best choice to many users, but it can really workout at times. Your phone sometimes need a clean installation of a firmware and to perform a clean installation, you need to perform a factory data reset beforehand. If you haven’t performed it earlier and your phone comes up with an issue later, you can try doing this after installation and see if it works.
Battery drain issue after flashing a new firmware is something more than common as well. This issue has multiple fixes as well. You can check which one seems the best and then apply it accordingly.
Solution#1: Perform a clean installation of the firmware
Clean installation of new firmware is always recommended as it is very important to trash the old files and data. This also includes the battery stats and logs. If you just wipe the phone’s data or perform a factory reset before installing the Android Nougat firmware, chances are less that you will come across battery drainage issues.
Solution#2: Charge battery to 100%, let it drain to 0% and charge it again – Try completing 3-4 cycles.
At times, it takes 3-4 cycles of charging for the battery to regain its average consumption. You can charge the phone to 100% and then let the battery come down to 0%. Once your phone goes off, charge it to 100% once again and let it discharge again. Do this for 3-4 times and let the battery come back on track.
Solution#3: Use battery monitor and kick-out battery hogging application
Samsung has a very nice device maintenance mode in its phones. You can use it to track down the application which is eating up most of your phone’s battery. To do so, go through these steps.
Solution#4: Calibrate your phone’s battery [For rooted Galaxy Note 5 users]
You can calibrate the battery of your phone by following this guide How To Calibrate Battery On Android.
Solution#1: Clear Cache
Solution#2: Clean RAM
Solution#1: Disable animations
Solution#2: Enable optimised performance mode
Solution#3: Wipe cache partition
Random reboot issue can occur as well if the newly installed firmware isn’t working properly. To get rid of this firmware, you can try clearing the cache of your phone by following the steps given above. If clearing cache doesn’t help, you may want to go for a factory reset. In case factory reset fails as well, the only option would be to perform a new installation of the Nougat firmware on your Note 5.
That’s all. If you are facing any other issue, let me know through the comment box below. If the solutions listed above helped you out, don’t forget to drop a word on that. Also if you have any other solutions for the problems listed above, make that reach us out as well.

Usama, I know it is not your fault and thank you for your suggestions. I can't believe Samsung would put out an "upgrade" like this. They changed the keyboard and decided to leave out dual language typing. I don't know why I get excited about these updates. Nobody really knows exactly what's coming. Everybody types relentlessly and speculates about it. Then the update happens and it is bunch of crap. I called Samsung to inquire about this and they matter -of -factly told me.."Oh just press the space bar to change languages" it's real easy...Nougat doesn't have dual language typing" ....like are you kidding me?? That's taking the phone 5 years back to the days of blackberry...Gboard and SwiftKey are great but their themes suck. The idea of the Samsung keyboard is that it matches the themes. Designers have spent time and money making beautiful themes including the keyboard to match them. People like me have invested a lot into those themes and now our keyboard is permanently damaged and we cannot enjoy our themes fully. They have done the same to the call in progress UI, which used to be themed as well. The keyboard and the Call UI are probably the two most used features in a phone. I am not sure how well this is going to go with the consumer. I suspect most won't even notice any of this and will dismiss my comments are rant....Enjoy the upgrade! In a scale of 1-10 Samsung gets a 2 from me! Thanks!
@disqus_R9gRreeKjF:disqus We do not get goodies from Samsung every other day. Samsung has been disappointing the users for quite a while. I agree with what you said. the keyboard issue is something more than annoying.
Agree! The more people complain the better maybe Samsung will do something about it!
I'm also really frustrated by having to switch keyboards to change languages--I don't see how it's an improvement. I'm also having a serious issue getting the long-press punctuation--you have to hold the key a lot longer after this update in order to get options other than just the letter, and it's slowed my typing considerably.
Even the autocorrection is not as smooth as it used to be. This keyboard really sucks! Here in Canada the population of Quebec speaks and types in en/fr all the time! In Europe same thing! Samsung is going to get a lot of pushback because of this!
The main problem I'm having is with the phone; too often, the person I've called cannot hear me when picking up or at some point during the conversation. When I call back, it is usually okay.
Some functions were slower (particularly maps) but I have cleared the cache and will see what that does.
I don't like the keyboard much but at least I don't change languages!
My phone worked the best it ever had for the few months before the Nougat update. Now it's painful to use. Thank you for the SwiftKey suggestion. That helped with the keyboard issue. I find I spend WAY too much time looking through the new "Settings" layout when I need to find something. It was such an easy layout before the update. Why would they complicate things on purpose??
Ever since I got updated to Nougat, my phone will not connect to wifi until i unlock the phone. For instance, if i am home and i leave, when i come back it doesnt connect. there have been times it has set for a hour and wont connect until i open the phone up. as soon as i swipe to open it, you can see the 4g at the top and then the wifi will come on in a few seconds. i have tried everything. reset network connections, forgot networks, i have done a factory reset multiple times. Ive started in safe mode. the wifi on during sleep is on. It especially causes a problem at work when the wifi drops out, it wont reconnect until i actually unlock the phone causing me to miss calls and text. did not do this on my old android version, but now all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ive contacted my carrier, ive contacted samsung and the only responses i get are to try the things i have already tried. one lady just flat out said i am out of luck. i wish i could just go back to the old version. at least it worked. i dont know what else to try.
