Samsung has transformed DeX from a piece of Hardware to Software. The new DeX application now enables Galaxy phones to transform into a computer. Samsung has already released the DeX application for Windows and Mac. Before you download Samsung DeX, let me tell you a little bit about it.

Samsung DeX

A couple of years back, Samsung introduced its DeX dock. This Dock connected with the Galaxy S8 and the other end was connected to a computer or a monitor. Doing this transformed the Galaxy S8 phones into a computer. You could use your phone as a computer this way.

Later on, Samsung changed the DeX functionality from DeX dock to a USB Type-C to HDMI cable. At this point, users needed this one cable to connect the phone to any external monitor to use it as a computer. The USB Type-C to HDMI cable was quite expensive and not many users opted for it. Furthermore, this didn’t help the popularity of the Samsung DeX.

As of 2019, it looks like Samsung is not ready to give it up on DeX. The company has now made DeX much useful and convenient than it ever was. You don’t need the DeX dock, no USB Type-C to HDMI cable is needed. All you need is your phone and the USB Type-C cable that came with it inside the box.

This functionality is available on the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus at the moment, but keeping in view that its a software feature, Samsung will probably add the support to previous Galaxy phones.

2. On the computer, open the DeX setup.
3. Install DeX and add a shortcut to your desktop.
4. Connect the Note 10 or Note 10 Plus to the computer.
5. DeX will detect it launch it. That’s all.
