Download Google Camera for Samsung Galaxy A70

Samsung Galaxy A70 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. It means that this phone can run the Google Camera. I did try running a number of Google Camera APKs on the Galaxy A70 and finally found a working one. From here, you can download the Google Camera for Samsung Galaxy A70. I will also explain how you can set up the Google Camera to take better photos with the Galaxy A70. Before you install Google Camera for Samsung Galaxy A70, its very important to understand the technicalities of the A70’s camera.

Samsung Galaxy A70 Camera

The Galaxy A70 has 3 cameras at the back. The main camera is a 32MP. After this, it has an 8MP ultrawide shooter and then there is a 5MP depth sensor. There is the same 32MP camera on the front as well. The 32MP cameras here are very lucrative for an average user, but the way it works can disappoint you. To get the best results from the 32MP cameras of the Galaxy A70, you have to understand the technology behind it.

Back in 2018, Samsung built the GM1 and the GD1 camera sensors. These camera sensors were built to compete with the likes of Huawei and Xiaomi who were putting up to 48MP cameras in their phones. Both the GM1 and GD1 sensors used a new technology called Tetracell. There is the cell bining mechanism working behind the Tetracell technology which combines 4 sensors of small pixels to form one bigger pixel.

The four merged pixels are supposed to increase light sensitivity. Originally, the GM1 and GD1 0.8μm-pixel sensors, but with the help of the Tetracell technology, they can deliver light sensitivity equal to 1.6μm-pixel image sensor. So, the 8MP and 12MP cameras based on GD1 and GM1 sensors are supposed to work as 32MP and 48MP.

In the Galaxy A70, we have the GD1 sensor as mentioned above. Technically, it has 4 x 8MP sensors which form one 32MP sensor at the back. We have the GM1 sensor in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, which has a 48MP camera at the back.

How does the Galaxy A70 Camera work?

When you open the Galaxy A70’s camera for the first time, it is set to 3:4 screen ratio. In this ratio, it does not use the 32MP resolution. You have to switch to 3:4H in order to take 32MP photos. Similarly, the front camera takes 32MP photos only when you are using wide selfie mode with 3:4H. In the normal 3:4 from the rear camera, it takes 12.2MP pictures. In the normal 3:4 from the front camera, it takes 8MP photos. I have done a detailed video explaining all the features of the Galaxy A70 camera. You can take a look at that video below.

The Google Camera, unfortunately, can use 8MP from the rear camera and 5MP from the front camera. This may sound weird to you, but it is what it is. The Google Camera is unable to convert the 8MP rear camera into 32MP computationally. Samsung definitely has some software tricks that convert the 8MP into 32MP for the stock camera app. The Google Camera fails at that. When you look at the pictures taken by the Google Camera on the A70, you will definitely realise that those are not the full 32MP pictures. For me, the Google Camera was only good to take the portraits or those Nigh Sight shots. If these are the two features you cherish, you should definitely install the Google Camera on your Galaxy A70.

That’s all with the installation of Google Camera on the Galaxy A70. The Google Camera may not work up to your expectations, but the few features that work properly are absolutely worth it.
