Galaxy Note 8 Flashback

Samsung was in hot waters when its Galaxy Note 7 failed badly. After the Note 7 debacle, Samsung was bound to come up with a phone to undo all the mess. Samsung redesigned its smartphones from scratch. The Galaxy Note 8 came out in August 2017 with a whole new design and a powerful spec-sheet.

The Galaxy Note 8 sported a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ display having 1440 x 2960 pixels resolution. This was a screen with 18:9 display ratio. Galaxy Note 8’s front and back is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Galaxy Note 8 is IP68 certified which means this phone is water and dust resistant.

The South Korean phone maker has powered this phone up by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 SoC. The phone has a RAM of 6GB and its internal storage is 64GB. It has a dual camera module at the back having both the shooters of 12MP. On the front it has an 8MP shooter only. This phone has a 3,300 mAh battery, which was a downgrade from the Galaxy Note 7’s battery.

The Note 8 ran on Android Nougat out of the box. The phone was updated to Android Oreo later on. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note 8 did not get the Project Treble support.

Galaxy Note 8: What is Cache?

Cache in simple words is a hardware or software component that keeps the data of all the process happening on a smartphone. This data is basically used to perform a particular task or process faster in the next iteration. For example, when you launch an application for the very first time on your phone, it will take a little while to open up. When you will launch the same application for the 2nd time, the application will open up quickly. That is because, after the first launch, the cache comes into action making it easy for the application to launch next time.

There are different types of cache that exist today. There is the cache of the entire device, there is the application cache, the Dalvik cache and then there is the internet cache.

The device cache is responsible for managing all the tasks happening on the device. The application cache is responsible for a particular application running on the device. The Dalvik Cache builds a tree of the process of applications and all the activities on your phone. The internet cache is the cache of all the websites that you launch in your internet browser.

If the cache of your device becomes cluttered, it can greatly affect the functionality of the device. In such a case, you have to clear the particular cache that is having the issue.
