Apple to get iPhone 8 wireless charging components from Lite-On Semiconductor

Apple is working on bringing wireless charging for their next generation device, iPhone 8. Since Samsung introduced wireless charging, the company has been working on bringing this feature to their devices too. The new update provides additional confirmation that Apple is working on bringing this technology for their smartphones. Apple has partnered with Taiwan-based company Lite-On Semiconductor to provide them with half the orders for GPP bridge rectifiers. This component will be used in the wireless charging device under development.

The wireless charging concept that Apple plans to introduce is quite unique. The wireless charging that smartphones at the moment use, require them to place the device on a charging mat/device. Apple wants to make wireless charging truly wireless by getting rid of the need for secondary devices for that purpose. The company is working on a technology in which iPhone 8 will be equipped with a component which will be charged using a transmitter plugged in the outlet. This will allow the device to be charged when it is within 15-feet of the transmitter.

The technology no doubt is unique and we are curious to see how this concept will be materialized. The have been working with the industry experts for a while. Apple will be introducing iPhone 8, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 7S in  September. As the company is working towards a radical redesign in which they are getting rid of the bezels and increasing the display size to give users the optimal experience.
