Android Oreo 8.1: All the features you get in Google’s latest OS update

Google has officially rolled out Android Oreo 8.1 and to walk you through a step-by-step on what has changed with the latest software update, we have decided to provide you with all of the changes and fixes included in the latest release.

Changes and fixes added in Android Oreo 8.1

Safer browsing now allows installed apps to detect WebView attempts which could navigate to known bad URLs.

Apps will now be limited to one notification alert sound per second.

Bluetooth battery indicator allows you to monitor the battery percentage of a Bluetooth device that is connected to your smartphone. This will allow you to charge up the connected device or keep it running.

Improvements to autofill.

Fingerprint scanner security improvement allows users to permanently lock out anyone who fails to unlock the device with an unregistered fingerprint. The fingerprint authentication will need to fail multiple times to lock out a user.

Colors menu added to Display tab in Settings for Pixel 2 and 2 XL.

The latest software update has fixed an issue with Nexus 5X not playing audio through the speaker.

Fixed an issue with Pixel 2/2 XL audio distortion.

Fixes for hamburger and beer emojis.

The Neural Networks API will allow apps to take advantage of hardware acceleration. This will result in reduced latency, and network loads. An added benefit will be that it will keep sensitive data on the device itself from being accessed. If your phone also features a dedicated AI chip like the Huawei Mate 10 or Honor V10, the API will be able to take advantage of it. If not, it will put the load on the CPU instead.

Pixel Visual Core might be exclusive to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL but it will use machine learning and image processing to come up with better camera results. Apps that use the Android Camera API will be able to shoot in HDR+ and we also forgot to mention that 3rd-party app developers will be able to take advantage of this.
