While we had a feeling that it was supposed to end like this, the iPhone X has become a huge money-making machine for Apple. Even though the iPhone 8 Plus shares the same hardware as the iPhone X, it is the changed design that buyers were waiting for. IHS Markit reports that the iPhone X units currently make up around 2 percent of the active iPhone user base, and keep in mind that this was just three weeks after it was officially released on November 2.

IHS Markit has also reported that the countries with the highest rates of adoption are those markets with high gross domestic product per head and some of those countries have been listed as follows:

  • Singapore
  • Denmark
  • Switzerland
  • Japan

“In the US, iPhone X adoption after three weeks matched the adoption of iPhone 8 Plus and beat early adoption levels for both the iPhone 8 and 7 Plus. Only the iPhone 7 model had greater initial success. In Japan, initial iPhone X adoption was as good as or better than any recent iPhone launch, and matched the level of the iPhone 7.”

With a price tag of $999 for the 64GB model, the iPhone X is also the most expensive iPhone released to date, but it is the one that is expected to make Apple and its shareholders very happy for the remainder of 2017 and starting of 2018. According to IHS, around 88.8 million iPhone units are expected to be shipped for the fourth quarter, and if Apple is able to sell this much, then the company would have sold the highest number of mobile phones in a single quarter.

The wave of momentum is also expected to be carried with the iPhone X for the starting months of 2018. Apple is said to be announcing a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus in 2018, possibly during the month of September so it will be better than its successor in every possible way.
