Gaining the root access gives you the privileges to install various applications to enhance the performance of your device, allows you to remove the built-in applications/programs, helps you to upgrade the battery life of your device & install the apps which require the root access for the proper functionality and modify your device in so many other ways e.g using mods and custom roms. By installing custom recovery, you can flash custom roms in the phone easily. Custom recovery also let’s you backup your current rom and restore it in case of any mishap. There is a laundry list of things you can do after having your device rooted and installed the custom recovery, now once you’re rooted and have installed custom recovery, go ahead and enjoy it on your phone. is this for locked or unlocked bootloader ?
@disqus_3T9WSnnDtg:disqus you need to unlock bootloader first.
Will this work for Xperia ZL? it's the same version.
@amit_thakkar:disqus it will not work on ZL.
Yes I thought so,I went ahead with a new exploit called towel root.just a simple apk download and install.it just worked amazing
@amit_thakkar:disqus that's great. We had the full guide for that too.. find it here https://techbeasts.com/2014/06/22/towelroot-root-many-sony-xperia-devices-with-locked-bootloader-xperia-m2v-tx-sp-zr-more/
after i root my device and when sony launch an update for new firmware, can i just upgrade using pc companion ? or i have to unroot my device, lock the bootloader first to upgrade my device?
@centz:disqus you do not need to unroot or re-lock the bootloader before upgrading. I prefer upgrading it using flashtool in case you do not receive OTA updates.
Thanks !! i was looking for this from ages
I have read 2 posts about rooting c6603 device on the 101 fw, and I'm confused by the volume button step. Should we pressed the up volume button or down volume button? And what happened if we pressed the wrong button?
@adolfusodeecue:disqus for rooting you should just press the volume up key for booting into fastboot mode and once you're in fastboot mode you may leave it on Blue LED. It should be clear now. Good Luck.
What if i dont have an SD card? Can i still do it?
What if i dont have my SD card? Can i still do it?
@disqus_DQhNwgdMYl:disqus you can put the files on your device's internal storage in case you don't have an sd card.
I am absolutely a newbie in rooting. The only reason i want to root my device is for enhancing the internal sound volume (so that i can flash the mod by zeroinfinity). Will mobile bravia engine 2 work if i root it....or do i need to take the TA partition backup. And is there any possible way i can enhance the internal sound volume without rooting it ? Thanks in advance.
@mikada:disqus this method requires you to unlock bootloader and if you unlock it bravia engine will never work as it's clearly mentioned in our bootloader unlock guide, backing up TA partition is only possible when you've rooted your device on an old firmware without having your bootloader unlocked e.g on Android 4.2.2. You cannot enhance the sound as most of the mods only work with the rooted phones, however a little search may find you any app that can do the job as i'm not sure about it. Good Luck and hope this clears all of your confusions.
Do we lose Bravia engine 2 or nfc or bootloader?
@disqus_Hw70T8aK7P:disqus after unlocking bootloader you will loose bravia engine 2.
ummm...exactly wats d use of bravia?
@ajaybagalkot:disqus Bravia is the graphic engine for Sony Xperia Smartphones, enhances the display of your device.
