Samsung rolled out a software update for the Galaxy Note 8 today. Usually, Samsung keeps rolling out security updates with no major changes to its smartphones every now and then. However, the update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with some really exciting features. The new software update adds the AR Emoji and the Super Slow Motion features to the Galaxy Note 8. Yes, you heard that right. The much-awaited features have finally made it to our beloved Galaxy Note 8.

AR Emoji and Super Slow-Mo

Both the AR Emoji and Super Slow Mo features do not mostly rely on the hardware. That’s why it was easy for Samsung to roll out this update for the Galaxy Note 8. Galaxy Note 8 owners can now start creating their digital-self and also shoot those extra slow-mo videos.

The AR Emoji feature can be found in camera application. Users will have to tap “Create Stickers” in order to install the “My Emoji Maker” feature. Users will install the My Emoji Maker from the Galaxy Store. After installing this feature, they will open Camera once again, click on Stickers > Create My Emoji. The AR Emoji on Galaxy Note 8 doesn’t use the camera in real time. The users first have to capture a selfie and then it will be processed for making an AR Emoji.

The Super Slow-Mo feature can be found in the camera settings. From the settings, you can enable whether you want to enable Multi-take or Single-take.

The AR Emoji feature first made it to the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus. The Super Slow-Mo also made it to the S9 and S9 Plus first of all. Later on, both of these features made it to the Galaxy Note 9. Galaxy S9, S9 Plus, and the Note 9’s hardware are quite similar to that of the Galaxy Note 8. If you were feeling bad about your Galaxy Note 8 just because of these 2 features, it’s time for you to cheer up.

Samsung has already started rolling out this update carrying the PDA 950FXXU5CRHA. The update has made it to 3 or 4 regions for now. It will take a little while for this update to reach out to all the regions. If you cannot wait for this update to make it to your country via OTA, you can grab the firmware files and flash them manually.

I have got my hands on the firmware files and uploaded them below. The firmware attached below belongs to the French region. This firmware is for the Galaxy Note 8 with the model number N950F/FD. The region doesn’t matter as long as you have the device with the right model number. Go ahead to download Galaxy Note 8 Android Oreo XXU5CRHA Firmware with AR Emoji and Super Slow-Mo. Follow the guide given next to the firmware in order to install it right now.
