The newest version of Odin, the version 3.12.3 is now available which takes over the previous version v3.11.1. The new version of Odin brings some improvements including a fix for the flashing error that occurred on the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. The new version also brings support for latest devices which just came out including the Galaxy Note 7 and others. In case you don’t already know about Odin, you may be interested in knowing that it is Samsung’s official tool for manually flashing firmware and files on your Samsung Galaxy handsets. Odin can flash Bootloaders, Modems, CSC files, Firmware files, Recovery files and Root files on your Samsung Galaxy.
Odin’s most common uses include flashing a stock firmware to recover your device from a bricked state or simply flashing firmware to upgrade it manually when the OTA doesn’t reach your region on time. One of the most popular uses Odin is the flashing of CF-Autoroot files which are available for hundreds of Samsung Galaxy phones and root the phone within a few clicks. The formats supported by Odin are *.bin, *.tar & *tar.md5. The firmware files usually come in *.tar.md5 format, you can apply these files using the PDA button in Odin. Once you have done setting up odin according to your requirements, you need to press the ”Start” button and start the flashing process, as soon as the process is finished, your device will restart automatically and you will see a ”Pass” notification on a green background on the top left corner. That’s all!
For your device to work with ODIN, you need to put it in download mode in order to start flashing the files. To do so turn off your phone and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home Button + Power keys simultaneously and then press Volume Up key to continue, your phone should boot into the download mode. After that connect it to your PC and start using ODIN.
