The Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced today by the China based company as their all new, redesigned flagship model. This smartphone is packed with the high performance components along with a 5.15 inch 1080p HD screen. The silver lining is that the amazing metal/glass or ceramic/ glass combination will cost you around $310 and $410 respectively.
Along with other specifications of the Mi 5, the handset features an amazing camera. Apparently, the smartphone will be featuring a 16 MP Sony IMX298 sensor which allows it to take mesmerizing pictures with rich details and sharp focus, even in low light conditions. On top of that, Xiaomi came up with a 4-axis optical stabilization system (OIS) which, according to the company, even works better than the famous Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. This should be kept in mind that most smartphones out there are featuring a 2 axis OIS while some come with a 3 axis system. The Mi 5, as mentioned earlier, will be featuring an innovative and all new 4-axis OIS which might just prove their claim right.
Xiaomi Mi 5’s camera comes with a phase-detection pixel sensor which allows it to automatically focus pictures with an amazing speed. The sensor uses a deep trench isolation to prevent light from leaking between different pixels which allows to achieve a new high of clarity in images. Apart from that, a 4 MP selfie camera is added to the front which too features an all-new 2 micron pixels instead of the 1.1 micron pixels used by other smartphones. This new sensor allows it to take in more light than any other selfie camera and therefore produce better pictures in low light conditions. Xiaomi officially posted a few samples of the rear camera which can be seen below, though it should be noted that the pictures are not high resolution so they won’t be representing the true capacity of the smartphone.
Coming towards the claim made by Xiaomi regarding their smartphone’s capability to outperform Apple iPhone 6s Plus, there is a video attached below which makes an in-depth comparison of both smartphones’ camera. First, you should know that iPhone 6s Plus features one the best camera on the market with a combination of OIS and smart digital stabilization system which works after the video has been captured. Optical image stabilization is one of the main reason why the video you capture on your smartphone looks so stable and smooth. It also accounts for the camera’s capability to capture sharp, blur-free images in low light surroundings. This video shows the comparison between both high end devices and guess what, The Xiaomi Mi 5 beats the Apple iPhone 6s Plus by miles. See for yourself:
