We just received news that Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has started sending out official invites for an event scheduled in India on March 31. Apparently the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be unveiled in the aforementioned event. Please note that Xiaomi Mi 5 was launched last month in China and has been available in Chinese stores ever since. Moreover, the Pro variant for the Mi 5 is also set to be launched in Xiaomi’s home country on April 6.

Xiaomi Mi 5 features not just one, but three different variants. Although the design of the trio is completely similar, their build material is what makes them look different from each other. Apparently Mi 5 will have Standard, High and an Exclusive builds. Two of the devices are made with a combination of metal and Gorilla Glass 4 while the third one features a ceramic-glass duo. Overall the design is curved around the edges making it comfortable to hold. Apart from the different build material, there is a small difference present between the chipsets and internal storage of the devices.

As you can observe in the above table, all the variants will be featuring the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 although the clock speed differs with versions. Furthermore, all three devices will come with the same 5.15 inch 1080p HG display. Apart from that, the device will, of course, hold a fingerprint scanner embedded inside the home button while Xiaomi also decided to ditch the eMMC storage for the more advanced UFS 2.0. Moving on the performance capabilities of the smartphone, reportedly the exclusive version of the Mi 5 scored an amazing 140,000 points on AnTuTu. Yes, we kid you not – Xiaomi Mi 5 even beat the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the score.

We still have no information regarding the price of the smartphone in India, tough you can get an idea from the price tags in China.
