With the Mobile World Congress just around the corner, months of speculation, rumors and leaks comes to its ultimate culmination. All of the manufactures will be presenting their best products at one of the biggest tech events of the year, the Mobile World Congress 2015. Samsung always unveils its S-series flagship at the event and following tradition they are expected to do the same this year too.
2014 for Samsung was not a good year in terms of its falling sales graph, Galaxy S5 was not a success as the company proved to be. After subsequent stumbles, the company last year announced to work on the next flagship from scratch and promised improvement in design and features. Well the time of reckoning is here, all eyes will be on Samsung to see whether they were able to fulfill their promise with their ‘Project Zero’ or not. So what will Samsung be launching at the MWC, 2015? Lets have a look at their speculated line up.
Samsung Galaxy S6
With the upcoming flagship, Samsung is turning a new chapter in their S-series devices. The company is not only ditching the plastic body for a metal unibody for a premium look but the new device will be sleeker showing off a refined design.
As far as speculations to this point go, Samsung Galaxy S6 will sport a 5.1/5.2-inch Quad HD display. It will be powered by Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos chip and will be equipped with a 3GB RAM. The device will run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipo and there are repots that they have worked on improving TouchWiz user interface too.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
At the MWC this time around Samsung will be unveiling another variant of Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge. The device is Samsung’s take on a dual-sided curved display. The company in September last year surprised us with Note Edge, which had a curved display on one side only. With this device Samsung is innovating the product design. The dual-sided curves will have different features from having set the main apps to telling you who is calling. Color can be assigned to different contacts and the color on the curve can also let you know who called or is calling. The success of this device hinges on a lot of factors, design, usability and features. Let’s see what people think of this spiffy device.
Samsung Orbis Watch
Samsung at the MWC is also expected to launch a round-dial design Orbis Watch. Before this the designs of Samsung’s smartwatches have been rectangular as the company claimed that it was best shape to read different things. Well they seem to have changed their mind after Motorola’s success with Moto G last year offering a classic round dial.
Well Samsung has only taken the round-dial design inspiration from Moto G, the rest they have put their own stamp on the design. The Orbis Watch will have a rotating bezel to which most of the features have been assigned. By the left or right rotation of the users will be able to access apps, switch between music tracks, access notifications and also receive and ignore calls. The design and the assigned features sound interesting. We haven’t seen any renders or leaked images of the watch so the device will be a total surprise, looking forward to Samsung’s take on a round dial design.
Samsung Tablet S2
A new tablet can also be unveiled at the event; Samsung recently announced a slew of mid-range tablets so we can expect the Tablet S2 to be a premium device. Not much about the device is known about the S2 tablets apart from the display sizes, one variant will sport an 8-inch and the other one a 9.2-inch display. The body of the tablet is expected to be thinner and sleeker, Samsung seems to be following this design philosophy with all of its devices this year.
Samsung acquired LoopPay a couple of weeks back. Samsung has been in talks with the company for a while so that they could also introduce their own mobile payment service which would rival ApplePay. After this acquisition it looks as if Samsung may be introducing this service at the event and it is expected that Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will support this service.
Samsung’s lineup for the event in interesting, from smartphones to the introduction of a mobile payment service; they seem to have covered different aspects. The company’s event is planned for 1st March at which they will be dazzling users with their new products. We are excited and waiting to see whether Samsung with their product portfolio for the event impress us with their work or will some other company take the spotlight. Stay tuned for all on Samsung and MWC.
