Samsung’s marketing team is making up for the losses they faced due to the numerous leaks and rumors which revealed the design, hardware and features of Samsung S7 and S7 edge days before its official unveiling is scheduled.
Although we already had solid unofficial reports that Samsung’s upcoming flagship will be water-resistant, it is now officially confirmed. The tech giant recently posted a video on twitter which shows a women accidentally drops her smartphone on the ground before sliding into a pool. When the device is retrieved, the video finishes to the tweet reading ” Change your idea of what a phone can handle on 2.21.16 #TheNextGalaxy”. This all but confirmed the robustness and water-resistance Samsung will be featuring in its upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7edge. Although this should be noted that water and dust resistance isn’t a new thing for Samsung as they already featured these amazing features in their Galaxy S5. Unfortunately this feature was discarded from the Galaxy S6 may be due to some design limitations as it was made out of metal and glass. Nevertheless, it seems that the Korean manufacturer worked out a solution for that too. Similarly Samsung Galaxy S7 will also be coming with microSD slot to allow expandable memory as it did in the S5.
Apart from these, following is what we know so far about the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The flagships will be equipped with either Snapdragon 820 processor. Moreover features like 4 GB RAM, 12MP rear camera with Britecell technology, and a powerful battery is being anticipated. We also know that S7 and S7 edge will feature a 5.1″ and 5.5″ Super AMOLED display respectively.
We are expecting Samsung to introduce ‘always on display’ in their upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This feature will allow users to check for notification, battery status, missed calls or messages without even unlocking their whole device. Moreover, based on recent rumors, Samsung decided to stick with the conventional microUSB 2.0 port, discarding the rumors of a USB Type-C port.
Needless to say, Samsung S7 and S7 edge will definitely be announced with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. Marshmallow was released last year with numerous new goodies including a completely new app drawer, redesigned app permissions, Doze, and Google Now on Tap.
