Vivo officially held an event in China to announce its all new flagship lineup: Vivo Xplay 5. Apparently the smartphone will be launched in 2 different variants – Vivo Xplay 5 and Vivo Xplay 5 Elite. Lets have an in-depth look at the devices.
Vivo Xplay 5
This variant of the announced flagship is comparatively budget friendly even though it features the same design as the Elite version. We are looking at a 5.43 inch Super AMOLED QHD display, Snapdragon 652 chipset accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Snapdragon 652 offers an octa-core processor with 4xCortex-A72 clocked at 1.8GHz + 4xCortex-A53 at 1.4GHz, and Adreno 510 GPU. This device will be coming with a unique Hi-Fi Chip configuration – CS4395+AD45257.
Vivo Xplay 5 will be made available on March 8th and it’ll cost you precisely $565 (CNY 3,698). Unfortunately there is still no news on its international availability, though we are hoping to see it hit the market soon.
Vivo Xplay 5 Elite
This Elite smartphone, unlike the simpler variant, packs some high-end components under the hood. Xplay 5 Elite features a complete metal body with Gorilla Glass 4 protecting the 5.43 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display. It will be powered by none other than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The 820 chip packs a custom quad-core Kryo processor and Adreno 530 GPU. Furthermore, believe it or not, this will be the first smartphone to feature the amazing 6GB RAM. Apart from that, the standard 128 GB internal storage will be made available, though microSD slot has been discarded in this flagship lineup.
Apart from the rear placed fingerprint scanner, Xplay 5 Elite will be featuring a 16MP (Sony IMX298) primary camera with phase-detection AF and dual-tone LED flash. Apart from that, a 8MP selfie shooter is placed at the front. The Xplay 5 Elite will support dual-SIM and LTE networks while being powered by a 3,600 mAh battery. This variant too comes with a unique Hi-Fi 3.0 chip – 2*ES9028+OPA1612.
Last but not the least, the device will be running Android v5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Although it is an older verison of the OS, it will come with the latest Funtouch launcher along with split screen multitasking support. Needless to say, Xplay 5 Elite will be launched on the same day as the Xplay 5, i.e 8th March, though it’ll carry a price tag of $655 (CNY 4,288).
