OnePlus 5T succeeded the OnePlus 5 in November 2017. OnePlus completely overhauled the flagship lineup with the release of OnePus 5T. OnePlus 5T came out running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It was very unfortunate for the OnePlus 5T to run on Android Nougat while the Android Oreo was already there. At the time of writing this post, Android Oreo has been released for this phone as well. While most of the users are looking for a way to update their phone to the latest and greatest version of Android, SultanXDA has something really different to offer. The famous XDA developer just published his unofficial version of the LineageOS 14.1 custom ROM based on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat.Update OnePlus 5T To LineageOS 14.1

A question may trickle through your mind that while there is official Android Oreo available, why you would want to get the LineageOS 14.1 which is based on the Android Nougat. CyanogenMod for the OnePlus phones is liked by the users since day 1. In the good old days, when the company released the OnePlus One, its OS was based o the CyanogenMod. Later on, the company parted away from CyanogenMod and launched its own OS named as OxygenOS. The reason for users to love this firmware was its bloatware free nature, blazing fast performance, no lags and no sluggishness and swift updates. The OxygenOS is quite close to the CyanogenMod as well. Later on, CyanogenMod was rebranded as LineageOS. So, if you want to experience something that is inclined a little bit more towards Vanilla Android, you may opt for this LineageOS 14.1 custom ROM.

The LineageOS 14.1 for OnePlus 5T has all the basic features in working state. The Face Detection works in this ROM. The fingerprint scanner is also working fine. The ROM supports various camera modes including the Video HDR mode, Antibanding control, Exposure control, Denoise control, Manual shutter speed, HDR and some other features. For better user experience and better battery life, SultanXDA has underclocked the CPU through this ROM. Although this ROM is currently in the beta stage, no major performance bugs have been reported so far.

If you are someone who likes experimenting with the phone and who has an old love for custom ROMs, you may install this ROM. To install the Android 7.1.2 Nougat LineageOS 14.1 custom ROM on OnePlus 5T, you need to follow the steps given in this guide.
