Well another year coming to an end and what a year it has been, full of rumors, speculations, launches and some great devices. Well we are hoping that 2015 is going to be even more exciting than 2014 had been. Now people are looking forward to what 2015 has to offer, what are the manufacturers working on; are we going to see something new and unique which will put the smartphone industry in tailspin? With cut throat competition, currently it is all about ‘survival of the fittest’ and in the smartphone industry that means innovate or go home. With the increased competition, the key strategy to gain and maintain edge in the industry is to bring out great devices every time which reflects to the consumer a company’s tireless aim to bring the best products with each subsequent launch. In this post we will do a round up of the top smartphone’s worth waiting for in 2015, rumors and speculations regarding these devices have been abound the last couple of months, so let’s see which devices do we think are the ones to look out for next year.
Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge
One of the most anticipated smartphone of 2015 is Samsung Galaxy S6. Also called the company’s ‘Project Zero’ where they have re-worked on the new smartphone from scratch. Samsung has the knack of pushing the envelope and introducing something unique with their flagships. Well Galaxy S6 is definitely one smartphone to look towards in 2015. Samsung will be releasing two variants of the model: Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S6 Edge will have a dual-edged curved display. The curved display aspect was first introduced by Samsung in Note Edge 4, but in that smartphone, the curved display was only on one side. With Galaxy S6 Edge we will definitely be looking at something different, and it would be interesting to see how the company utilizes the functionality. Let’s talk a little bit about the specifications of the device. The Galaxy S6 will sport a 5.2 inch QHd 2560 x 1440 display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Latest leaks suggest that Samsung will be switching to a metal body for Galaxy S6 from plastic which will definitely give the smartphone a more premium look. The smartphone will be equipped with a 16/20-megapixle rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera and a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage that could be extendable to 128 GB. Broadcom’s new sensor chip BCM4773 will be used in the device. As it is coming in 2015, so the smartphone will definitely be powered by Android’s latest operating system, the Lollipop 5.0. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to be unveiled at the MWC (Mobile World Congress).
LG G3 has been one of the top smartphones of 2014, that definitely puts pressure on the manufacturer to bring even a better smartphone for 2015, that can live up to the standards set by LG G3. Since the past couple of years the company is working towards making its mark in the smartphone industry, the best part is that they experiment and innovate. Let’s talk about the specifications of this and see if LG with their latest offering is bringing something new to the table. The LG G4 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 quad-core processor, and 3 or 4 GB RAM and 32 or 64 GB internal memory which will be extendable. As these specifications are based on leaks and rumors, there is a chance that LG may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor. The smartphone will sport a 5.7-inch Sapphire display and will be powered by Android’s latest OS, Lollipop 5.0 and a 16-megapixel rear and 5.1-megapixel front cameras. The rear camera will have the functionality of auto focus and digital image stabilization. Apart from that there are speculations that the smartphone will be capable of both fingerprint screening an eye/retina sensor technology. The LG G4 will be launched somewhere between May-August. So how does LG G4 sounds?
The newbie Chinese company, OnePlus is all set to make its mark in the international markets. The company is only a year old and its one product, OnePlus One is competing with the likes of Samsung, LG and Apple. Impressive, isn’t it? One of the secrets of their success is their low prices and their top notch specifications. The One Pus Two will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, which a lot of experts are claiming would be upgraded to Snapdragon 810, as this is the chipset that other high-end smartphones will be using in 2015. The smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch display, a 16 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera. The device will be powered by 3300 mAH battery, which is a bit upgraded from OnePlus One which was 3100 mAH. Apart from that OnePlus Two will be equipped with a 32 GB internal memory and will most probably be launched in Q3. OnePlus One retailed at $300, so we are expecting that OnePlus Two will also be priced at somewhere between $300-$400. Let’s hope that the company makes their product easily accessible like the others available in the market as this could prove to be a turn-off for prospective buyers.
HTC One M9 (HTC Hima)
HTC One M9 is one of the highly anticipated devices of 2015, its predecessor HTC One M8 is listed among one of top smartphone’s of 2014, so people are definitely looking forward what HTC will offer next. The smartphone will sport a 5 or 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display, a 20.7 megapixel rear and a 13 megapixel or 4-UltraPixel front-facing camera. There are speculations that we may either see optical image stabilization or an optical zoom in the new HTC flagship. As HTC will be partnering with Bose for the audio, so there will be upgrades in that department too and there is a probability that the smartphones body will be an aluminum silicon-carbide composite. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and the new Sense 7.0 software. The smartphone s expected to be unveiled at the MWC 2015 and will be launched after a couple of weeks in March or April and will be available in four colors: Grey, Gold, Silver and Gunmetal Gold.
Sony Xperia Z4 & Z4 Compact
Sony definitely has some ambitious goals for 2015. Not only are they revamping their product portfolio by working on a few key devices, so that the focus remains quality not quantity but a movie collaboration is also in works. Sony’s definitely works towards innovating their smartphones and their devices are good as well but somehow their sales do not reflect this aspect and due to their falling sales graph the company has cut back their product line. Sony will launch their high-end flagship in two variants: Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4 Compact. The Xperia Z4 will be equipped with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The smartphone will sport a 5.5 inch QHd 2560 x 1440 display and a 27-megapixel rear and 10-megapixel front camera. Sony definitely works on improving the camera of their devices as that is one of the most used functions of our smartphones, who wouldn’t want to capture their life moments in good quality. Apart from that the company will be equipping the smartphone will be a new sensor, the Exmor RS IMX230, which will help in blur free tracking and focusing of objects and will definitely improve the image quality as well.
The Xperia Z4 Compact is a bit smaller as compared to Xperia Z4 but has great specifications. Sony does not cut corners quality wise of their products, the Xperia Z3 Compact was also very well received due to its great specifications. The Xperia Z4 Compact will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The smartphone will sport a 4.7 inch 1080 p display, a 20.7 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front cameras. The device will be powered by a 3000 mAH battery. Both the smartphones Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4 Compact will be dust and water resistant. Both smartphones in terms of specifications sound great. Maybe we may also get some limited edition items from Xperia Z4’s collaboration with the latest Bind movie ‘Spectre’.
