For the price of $499, the OnePlus 5T is a great solution for those users that want an 18:9 aspect ratio on an AMOLED display plus the fastest hardware from 2017 that you could hope for in a flagship phone. With a Snapdragon 835, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage all bundled up in a nice $499 package, what else could you ask for?
A software update? Looks like that is going to be a major concern for you. This is because there are going to be some issues with the update rollout. A source has detailed that the OnePlus 5T will be getting an Android Oreo beta program in the month of November and that sounds like a good deal right?
Unfortunately, the final OTA is going to be dropping in early 2018. The timeline for 2018 could mean that you will have to wait a huge while before the update is going to be available for OnePlus 5T devices. OnePlus has also not updated future buyers of the OnePlus 5T as to when can they expect to receive a software update to Android Oreo and that will make matters worse for them.
Since the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T have been released a little earlier, the company is going to be working on these devices to get the Android Oreo update as soon as possible. The only problem is that the company is going to be releasing the update a little slowly for the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T.
If you’re okay with purchasing with a $499 phone with a near bezel-less screen and terrific hardware knowing that a proper software is going to be released in 2018, then you can buy the OnePlus 5T.
If not, then you can always settle for the Pixel 2, but for $649 it does not provide as great a value as the aforementioned phone.
