With the MWC just a couple of week’s away, devices are the expected to unveiled at the event are the talk of the town. HTC One M9 is one of those devices, rumored to part of HTC’s Mobile World Congress lineup and the device has been making waves for the last few days on the issue of how it looks like. This post will retrace all the developments related to the news of its design and looks. HTC One M8 was one of the good devices launched last year and it ended up in the best smartphone category of 2014 at many forums. People are always curious about what developments the company will be making with their next flagship and the rumor mill for HTC One M9 has been going wild, from reports of the company using decoys to M9 looking like M8. Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this mystery and figure this issue out.
Leaked images on the site NoWhereElse suggested that the upcoming HTC flagship will look a lot like the version launched last year HTC M8. The differences were evident in the back panel where a big camera now graces the device. There are reports abound that the company will be introducing a 20-meagpixel main camera and a 13-megapixel front shooter for M9 and maybe keep the Duo Camera Technology.
A tweeted picture by @stagueve, editor of NWE compared the alleged HTC One M9 and One M8 to see the differences in the both models. Well there were not a lot of differences, the side borders are reduced in size, so is the size of the HTC logo. Some changes in the placement of the camera can also be seen. Have a look at the picture tweeted to get an idea about the said ‘differences’ in the two devices. Bloomberg Taiwan also claimed that the upcoming HTC flagship will look the same as One M8.
Then a report suggested that all these prototypes leaked on the internet are decoys used by the company so that people do not get to know till the end moment what the actual device looked like. The report also suggested that the end product will be a lot different from what seen in the prototypes and through this all is a hype, a marketing strategy used by the company. That said report also mentioned some change for the front snapper, which for HTC One M9 has been moved to the center and looks a lot like HTC Desire 826.
This is turning out to be one wild ride and it is not over yet, we still have some interesting tid bits to add. On Saturday a leaked image showed the alleged device. Well in actual the image just showed a reflection of an HTC device- which are distinct in their design to be recognizable- on the surface of another smartphone.
Even from all this we still are not clear what HTC’s next flagship will look like. Some of the other specs of HTC One M9 point to it being powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, sporting a 5-inch display. The smartphone camera will have Sony Exmor sensor and Dolby 5.1 audio technology will compliment the device. The smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 7.0 UI. All of this is based on the latest reports that we have to this point, by the time the device comes out we may see some additional features as well. With the MWC in March, there is a high chance that the company will show it off there. Let’s see what reports, rumors and leaks we see in the next upcoming days related to this elusive device.
