Couple of days ago, a document which surfaced in Russia, claimed that Sony Xperia E5 might be revealed soon. Note that this came after we have been hearing rumors that Sony is planning to dedicate all its attention to its flagship series, the Xperia X series. This led to speculations that the comparatively less hardware equipped series like Xperia C, Xperia M and the Xperia E might just meet the dust.
As of now, Sony officially confirmed the Xperia E5 via its Facebook page. They also revealed the first official render of the handset featuring the front and back side of the upcoming smartphone.
Incase you might have forgotton, the aforementioned document also mentions a smartphone with model number Sony F3311. Note that the document is used to check compliance with some rules of Custom Union in Russia. Based on the information available on the memo, the Sony F3311 is in real the Sony Xperia E5. This must also be mentioned that last month, the latter was spotted on GFXBench along with another smartphone with a model number F3216. Let’s have a look at what the benchmark test revealed.
Sony F3311 (aka Xperia E5) sports a 4.6-inch screen with 720 x 1280 HD resolution display. It is powered by MediaTek 6735 chipset along with 1.5 GB of RAM. The smartphone features a 16 megapixel camera at the back while a 5 megapixel camera is available at the front for selfies.
On the other hand, Sony F3216 also sports a 4.6-inch screen, however the resolution are cranked up to 1080 x 1920. This particular handset is powered by aMediaTek Helio P10 Chipset which includes an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU and the Mali-T860 GPU. In the camera department, we have a 21 megapixel rear camera, accompanied by 16 megapixel selfie snapper. Apparently, the F3216 sounds like it is one of the Xperia Compact models.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no information on the pricing and availability but we’ll update you as soon as some news surfaces.
