The first smartphone that Sony plans to launch in 2015 is the Xperia E4. The smartphone is expected to be launched at the MWC (Mobile World Congress), which will take place in Barcelona from 2-5th March. Xperia E4 will have two variants: the E2105 and the E2115. The E2115 will have come with a dual-sim support feature.
Due to a poor sales graph in 2014, Sony has announced that it will be cutting its product line up for 2015 and will be focusing on a few products. There are speculations that the company will be focusing on two key series: Xperia E and Xperia Z. As Xperia Z series in terms of specifications, is considered among one of the best high-end smartphone, so the company is definitely going to retain that line. This means that for 2015, Sony will be launching only two smartphones: a mid-tier budget smartphone and a higher-end premium specs device. This can work in their favor, provided they play all their cards right.
Sony Xperia E4 will sport a 5-inch Quad HD, 540 x 960p display and a 5 MP rear with auto focus feature and 1.9 MP rear camera. The device will be equipped with MediaTek MT6582 chipset with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and will run on Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat with a Lollipop upgrade in the books. The smartphone will have a 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory which is extendable up to 64GB. According to some of the images which have leaked, the screenshots indicate its Antutu benchmark score to be 17875. The smartphone will retail around $200.
Official launch dates for Xperia E4 are not confirmed yet, it most probably will be coming out in March/April. How Sony strategizes for 2015 will definitely play a part in its sales. So, are you looking forward to Xperia E4 or will forgo this device and go for the Xperia Z4 ?
