Snapdragon 845 is here and Xiaomi’s ‘premium smartphone’ will get this chipset very soon

The chipset that will be present in the flagships from companies we have come to and love has officially been announced and it is none other than the Snapdragon 845. There is no telling what sort of processor we will be expecting inside Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon SoC, but we know that devices like the Galaxy S9 and LG’s G7 are going to show off its capabilities first.

Another device that will feature the Snapdragon 845 is Xiaomi’s upcoming ‘premium smartphone’. During the announcement, Qualcomm invited guest speaker, CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun to talk about the partnership between the popular Android smartphone series and the chip manufacturer.

Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi will have a premium smartphone in the works that will feature the Snapdragon 845, so it appears that the Galaxy S9 and LG G7 will have some competition to deal with during the start of 2018.

Snapdragon 845 has been rumored to be made on the slower 10nm LPE architecture. For those that are confused, Snapdragon 845-powered models of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are sold in America and if the rumor holds true, these versions will be slower than the rest of the world’s versions, which will have an Exynos 9810.

The Snapdragon 845 will be capable of gigabit LTE speeds thanks to its Snapdragon X20 LTE modem. While the major details have yet to come through, Qualcomm will be making them public slowly but surely during this week.

What readers will be dying to see is the performance and efficiency differences between the Snapdragon 845 and this year’s Snapdragon 835. There will be other features to look forward to, so when we have something, we’ll unleash it at the earliest.
