Sharp has been keeping quiet since a few years in the United States and the company has finally come up with a new smartphone in collaboration with Sprint and its prepaid Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The smartphone is named as Aquos Crystal, and what’s keeping all eyes on this smartphone for now is its stunning display that spans edge-to-edge on the front making it a smartphone having almost no bezel.
The Aquos Crystal sports a 5 inches stupendous display, that is all screen on the front but a disappointment is there as this display is only a 720p one, might be a fair detail in the price it’s being offered on. There’s an 8 MP shooter on this phone’s back and a 1.2 MP secondary cam. Sharp has powered this device up with a 1.2 GHz quad core CPU and a RAM of 1.5 GB. Internal storage is 8 GB, there’s microSD card slot for the expandable storage while there’s a 2040 mAh battery. Nice specifications right? Well, it’s actually a great mid-range package.
Sharp has also used Harman Clari-Fi audio technology for the audio compression on this device. The phone cleverly uses this technology that uses the entire screen of the phone to produce sound, that means you don’t actually need to wonder about it’s speaker atop of the screen and it will let you listen to the calls by putting up the phone’s screen with your ears. The device actually gets pretty much unique here as you won’t even find any sensors as well on the front panel unlike other smartphones, the sensors are at the back side of the phone instead and the secondary cam is at the bottom as it can be seen in the pictures. The device will be available in black, white , blue and pink colors.
Initially, the Sharp Aquos Crystal will be available in the U.S through Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The device will also go on sale from 29th of August in Japan through the wireless carrier SoftBank.
The pricing details so far suggests that with a new two-year contract on Sprint, Sharp Aquos Crystal will cost $20 / month. The phone can also be picked up with 0 down payment and $10 / month for 2 years if you’re not willing to sign a contract with sprint. It will cost $149 if you’re willing to get it from Boost or Virgin Mobile and if you want the device all out, it may cost you $239.
