Samsung’s upcoming flexible smartphone is NOT a Note 3 variant

A few weeks earlier it had been reported that Samsung will introduce a Note 3 variant with a flexible plastic OLED panel. A report from Asian publications puts an end to the rumors saying that it will form a new series and will not be a Note 3 variant.

A Korean publication writes that the new Samsung flexible smartphone will be a reminiscent of the Youm prototypes that were introduced earlier this year. The same publication says that the device will not come with an S Pen stylus and that it will not be a Galaxy Note 3 variant as the first rumors suggested.

Not forgetting that Samsung had announced that Korean makers will be introducing a new flexible smartphone very soon. Anyway, by “flexible” they do not at all mean that the smartphone will actually bend, it only means that the display will be concave allowing the touch screen to be interactable from the sides of the smartphone and, thanks to the plastic panel, it won’t break that easily.

The leaked specifications of the smartphone say it has been codenamed as SM-G91, runs on Snapdragon 800 processor with Android 4.3. Rumors suggested that the terminal is also compatible with the LTE Advanced standard, which checks with the reports saying that Samsung will debut the handset at several Korean carriers.

Anyhow, Samsung will not be the only manufacturer launching a curved smartphone as its Korean rival is already building up a curved smartphone, unofficially dubbed LG G Flex.  Rumor says that the LG smartphone will launch in November.
