This service is already available in countries like South Korea, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Singapore and Spain. Now Thailand is joining in the list of countries where this innovative digital payment method works. Samsung had introduced the service a few months back but it was limited as the company was working out how to implement it at a larger scale.

As Thailand is working towards becoming a cash free society, Samsung’s introduction of this service aligns with the governments initiative. Today the service was launched in the presence of Thai government officials and partners from the industry. Thomas Ko, Vice President of Samsung Pay on the occasion remarked:

We are very excited to be introducing Samsung Pay to the Thai market, as we strive to continue to deliver a robust payment platform and digital wallet to consumers around the world

Samsung Pay will work on cards issued by Visa, MasterCard, Bangkok Bank, KCC, CitiBank, KTC, KasikornBank and Siam Commercial Bank. In addition, the service will also work on Galaxy Gifts pre-paid cards by MasterCard. Popular stores and retailers will also accept payment through Samsung Pay.

There is no doubt that Samsung Pay is an innovative payment platform and with everything going digital hints provides people with ease of use through a secure channel. Samsung at the moment is working on expanding this platform to other countries too, in the near future we may be looking at this service is India as the company is in talks with different banks and retailers there.
