At the Google I/O developers conference, Samsung announced its latest smart watch, and the first one to run on Android wear, Google’s Android OS for wearable devices. The very first smart watch by Samsung ran on Android Jelly Bean, while Gear 2 and Gear fit ran on Tizen and Samsung updated the Gear 1 to Tizen later on as well, but Samsung aims to target the pure Android fans this time and has brought up the Live for them. Samsung actually made a great move, as the software in the previous Gears was not really liked by the users, and the software actually restricted the watches to Samsung only devices. With Gear Live, Samsung aims to target non-Galaxy owners as well as the Gear Live is set to work with any Android device running on Android 4.3 or greater.
Gear Live is capable of getting you a taxi on your exact location, making a restaurant or a hotel reservation, sending a text message, set up alarm and other similar tasks, that the users actually loved with Google Now settled up on their smartphones and tablets. Other features on the Gear Live remain same, that the users experienced on the previous Gear smart watches. These include syncing up the applications to get the notifications, making and picking up the calls, the heart rate sensor is there that can help you to keep a check on your heart, and the other fitness applications that may become handy in some cases. Gear Live misses the camera, however the essence of a smart watch remains alive is can perform all the tasks that the users may actually require and want it to do.
Hardware specs aren’t’ changed either, the Gear Live sports a 1.63 inches Super AMOLED screen. Samsung has powered it up with 1.2 GHz dual core CPU accompanied by a RAM of 512 MB. The internal storage remains at 4 GB as well. Gear Live is IP67 certified, that makes it resistant to water and dust, the feature that Samsung missed on the Gear 1. Gear Live comes with Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and a battery of 300 mAh is placed inside.
Gear Live is up on the Google Play Store for pre-orders, and available in black and wine red colors with interchangeable strap options. Samsung is also expected to bring it up on Amazon and Buy Best stores from 7th of July, 2014.
