Samsung Galaxy S8 CAD schematics hint at a minimal camera hump

Interesting information about Samsung‘s upcoming flagship has been popping up today. First we got to see some impressive renders of both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, showing off a stunning sleek device, then we go to know that the AI assistant that will be used in the device will support up to 8 languages and last but not the least we got to see a partial image of the device as posted by someone on Weibo. Now the tipster @OnLeaks, who provided the info on the renders today has brought to light another key detail related to the camera hump.

The CAD schematics compare Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy S8 to show the visible differences in the camera hump. According to the information provided Galaxy S7 had a 1mm camera hump which in Galaxy Note 7 was reduced to 0.8mm. The schematics point out the Galaxy S8 will have 0.2mm camera hump which will be negligible. Well if Samsung ends up pushing this impressive design feature then the device will have a flat rim around the camera lens.

Another comparison of the thickness of the three devices show that Galaxy S8 will be a tad bit thicker as in just o.1mm thicker than both Galaxy S7 and Note 7. Where both Note 7 and Galaxy S7 have a thicknessĀ of 7.9mm, Galaxy S8 will be 8.0mm thick. If this is true, then this change most probably has to do with the internal design change for the battery.

Just like other information and leaks that we are coming across, look at this with a skeptical eye. All the details will be confirmed when Samsung unveils Galaxy S8 on 29th March but good news for eager fans who are dying to have a glimpse at the real deal, you will be able to see the teaser promo at the MWC on 26th February.
