With the MWC just a few weeks to go, we were wondering if Samsung indeed was going to introduce Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge– the dual sided curved variant of Galaxy S6 at the event because to date reports and leaks have been related to Galaxy S6. Usually when a flagship device is about to be announced the rumor mill goes crazy discussing its various aspects, Galaxy S6 currently is going to through the grinder but we didn’t hear anything about the Galaxy S6 Edge, apart from that information that a dual curved variant indeed is in works. Toady a new report out whets our curiosity about the company’s dual-curved variant.
Samsung recently seems to have filed a design patent with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for what looks like the Galaxy S6 Edge. The patent applications only reveal information about the design concept, not information regarding its features and the materials that will be used in manufacturing the device are given. The patent design pictures do show that the device in question has a dual sided curved display and that’s not all, the display seems to wrap around the back of the device. This aspect is different from what we saw in Galaxy Note Edge where only one side of the device was curved as it did not wrap around the back. The display at the back side features different icons.
One of the design pictures shows a pop-up design of some kind. We are wondering what that might be. Is Samsung working on a 3D camera or is it some kind of a new flash? We cannot ascertain that fact by looking at the patent concept. The design no doubt looks very interesting.
Well no one can doubt Samsung for not being innovative, the design patents looks very intriguing. We wonder how the company will pull this off but it’s Samsung and they will figure something out. When Samsung unveiled Galaxy Note Edge last year, at that point no one had thought that it could be done successfully and well Samsung did it. We may be getting way ahead of ourselves by looking at the innovative concepts, we should keep this in mind that this is the patent design picture and not every patent materializes into a device. Don’t be disappointed, Samsung will definitely introduce something interesting and innovative through the Galaxy S6 Edge, what that will be we may see it at the MWC.
