Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Announced: 64 GB Storage, Iris Scanner, USB Type-C, Water and Dust Resistant

The Galaxy Note 5 and the S7 Edge are the smartphones of past now. Samsung has just released a successor to add up to the line of its Note series. Samsung’s new powerhouse, the Galaxy Note 7 is out in all its glory today. Galaxy Note 7’s specifications were floating around for last whole year. We got a chance to go through leaked specifications, press renders, protection cases, and even the retail box of the Galaxy Note 7. The release turned some rumors true and simply wiped off other speculations. Galaxy Note 7 carries a design language as same as that of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The phone comes as a single variant i.e. the Galaxy Note 7 Edge only. Galaxy Note 7 carries the top of the line hardware. Let’s have a look on what this all new mighty Note flagship has got for the Samsung fans out there.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Display & Dimensions

Galaxy Note 7 has a dual edge screen. It’s a 5.7-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 518 ppi. Galaxy Note 7’s display is a Super AMOLED and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The same Gorilla Glass protection is applied at the back of this smartphone since its packed inside a full glass body.

The Galaxy Note 7 weighs at 169g. The dimensions of this device are 6.04 x 2.91 x 0.31 inches (153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a dual pixel 12 MP camera setup at its back. The camera setup is similar to the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. On the front the phone has a 5 MP selfie shooter. The Dual Pixel setup makes the autofous amazingly fast. It captures each and every single pixel properly. The purpose of Dual Pixel setup helps your device to capture the moments just as you would see them with your own eyes.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Hardware

Galaxy Note 7 is equipped with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU or the Exynos 8890 CPU. A RAM of 4 GB is accompanying the device. The CPU and RAM are the same as that of the S7 and S7 Edge as well. Galaxy Note 7 has a 3500 mAh battery, which is 500 more then the Galaxy Note 5. Galaxy Note 7 is also IP68 certified which means the phone is water and dust resistant. IP68 certification on the Note 7 makes it the very first Note device with these capabilities. Samsung is using the USB Type-C on the Note 7. We are interested to see how Samsung optimizes the USB Type-C for its fast charging feature while LG and HTC have quite long charging times for their devices on the USB Type-C setup. An iris scanner is embedded at the top of the display of Galaxy Note 7. The iris scanner will help you to unlock your Note 7 as soon as you have a look on it.

Samsung has added a hefty list of features to the S-Pen of the Galaxy Note 7. The S-Pen just got a whole lot better as compared to the previous Note devices. Samsung has made the S-Pen water resistant as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Software

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is the base firmware of the Galaxy Note 7. The Galaxy Note 7 sports Samsung’s latest TouchWiz UI with all the powerful enhancements onboard. Galaxy Note 7 also brings the Galaxy S7 Edge’s Edge UX. Samsung has enhanced the TouchWiz UI to work better with the battery and provide a little better experience to its users.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Price & Release Date

There isn’t any word from Samsung about the pricing of the Galaxy Note 7, but it should cost around $700-$850 by looking at the prices of previous Galaxy flagship smartphones. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7 will start from tomorrow (August 3, 2016). The device will start pouring the pockets of users all in most of the countries.

Galaxy Note 7 will be available in four colors: Blue Coral, Silver Titanium, Black Onyx and Gold Platinum.
