Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Goes Official: 5.7″ display, 4K video recording, new S pen features and more

Those hearts, beating fast this night in the excitement for Galaxy Note 3 should calm down now as Samsung has announced the device officially in the Samsung Unpacked Event Episode 2 held at IFA, Berlin. Samsung has also revealed it’s first smartwatch the Samsung Galaxy Gear in the same event. The device is no doubt the greatest of all the phablets so far.

We would like to call the Galaxy Note 3 the third beast in the Note family. Galaxy Note 3 features the Stylus, that also differentiates and gives it credit to sit atop from the competitor phablets like Xperia Z Ultra. Samsung has added a lot of new cool features in the phablet and also upgraded the functionality of the S pen by adding new features like Air Command: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window, S Note, Multi Window, new Easy Clip, Direct Pen Input. Samsung is going to launch the device in 3 different colors i.e Blush Pink, Classic White and Jet Black. Let’s have a look by starting from the Design.

Although Galaxy Note 3 came up with a bigger display i.e 5.7-Inches, but Samsung has managed to keep the over all size same as that of the Galaxy Note 2, the device weighs at 168g. Galaxy Note 3 got a back of stitched leather material that looks quite good move by Samsung. Samsung has announced the covers in 9 colors, S view cover’s size has also increased, it has a much wider screen now. S view allows the users to read text messages and also let’s the users use S pen now.

Galaxy Note 3 will be leaving the factory gates having Android 4.3 installed in it. Galaxy Note 3 will be packed up with either Snapdragon 800 Quadcore Chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz or Sammy’s own Exynos 5 Octa Core Chipset clocked at 1.9 GHz and also 330 GPU running at 450 MHz. The processor will depend on the region. It has got a 3 GB RAM, 5.7” Inches Full HD Display with the pixel density of 386ppi. The device is also packed up with a large 3200 mAh battery.

Galaxy Note 3’s front facing camera is ranged at 2 MP, that is also capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps, the front camera also features smart stabilization. A 13 MP camera at the back seems to be imported from Galaxy S4, perhaps ensuring some of the high quality new features. The camera is capable of recording 4k Ultra HD videos, Smooth videos at 1080P video with 60fps and slow motion videos with 1080p at 30fps – the camera features are also expected to be market dependent.Samsung has kept all the features of Galaxy S4’s camera in Galaxy Note 3 and also added some of it’s exclusive features , these include Drama Shot, Sound & Shot, Animated Photo, Eraser, Best Photo, Best Face, Beauty Face, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Panorama, Sports, Golf, Surround shot, Live effect. Samsung has also improved the audio – Ultra High Quaility Audio (~192KHz, 24 bits ) support is introduced in the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung has also introduced a new security feature named as ”Samsung Knox”. The feature allows the users to protect their devices against malwares, ensures the privacy of the owners.

The good thing is, Samsung has dropped off the 16 GB version of the Galaxy Note 3. It now starts with 32GB/64GB internal storage capacity and also an external microSD card slot.

As far as the radios are concerned, the Snapdragon [LTE] version of the Galaxy Note 3 supports 6 LTE bands, it does have WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac,Bluetooth v 4.0, NFC, GPS / GLONASS,  IR LED (Remote Control), and MHL 2.0 port for wired connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will hit the U.S and Japanese markets in October, 2013 while rest of the world will be getting it from 25th September, 2013. In total there are 140 Countries expected to get this phablet.
