Samsung’s product line up for 2015 is more organized and streamlined than previous years. They seem to have re-worked their plans for the different smartphone that they will launch in the coming year, as evident from their plans of Galaxy A and E series. Samsung Galaxy J1 will be the budget friendly smartphone being launched by the company in 2015.
Samsung Galaxy J1 will be equipped with a 64- bit quad-core Marvell PXDA 1980 processor, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal memory which is extendable. The device will sport a 4.3 inch 480 X 800 TFT LCD display and have a 5 MP rear and 2 MP front camera. The smartphone will be powered by Android Kit Kat 4.4. The price or the official launch date has not been announced yet. Specifications wise this smartphone offers nothing new. We were hoping that maybe Samsung would have some plan in mind for their entry-level smartphones, well it doesn’t seem so.
Budget-friendly smartphones usually get manufactured for the Asian markets which are very competitive. Sales for Samsung in Asia in 2014 had been dismal. Samsung has to keep this in mind that if it wants to re-gain their edge in 2015 primarily in the Asian markets, the device they launch should not only be affordable but it should have good specs as well. Samsung’s competitors in the Asian markets are gaining edge over the company as they are bringing out economical smartphone with great specifications. So if Samsung wants to get to the top again, they even with their budget-friendly smartphones have to make quality their focus, not quantity. There is no use bringing out a slew of budget-friendly devices if they fall short of the mark, one good quality device can do a great job. The company should seriously think about this aspect.
