Google Pixel 2 comes at a $649 price tag while the larger cousin, the Pixel 2 XL features a huge $849 price just for the base storage model. To make matters worse, none of these models feature expandable storage and to say that these devices have issues is a downright understatement. You might get stock Android running, but that smooth operating system is not going to be saving you from the several problems that users have reported on. To bring you up to speed, here is a list of all the problems that Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners have stated so far.

Touchscreen responsive issues on Pixel 2 XL

The Pixel 2 XL is a game-changing smartphone but Google needs to do better with tackling the problems infested in these phones. Take a look at the video below and you will find that the phone occasionally is unresponsive to touch gestures from your fingers.

Luckily, Google has not forgotten that you spent a minimum of $849 on the Pixel 2 XL which is why it is going to be releasing a fix in the next OTA update. The good news is that Pixel 2 XL owners are going to get the update first and the bad news is that Google has not really specified when should you expect this update to be officially released.

Bottom line, you could be looking at unresponsive touchscreen issues for a long period.

OLED screen burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL

The Pixel 2 XL is the only phone out of the two that features an OLED screen and you know what that means. Lack of monitoring from Google means that a screen burn-in can occur and that is exactly what happened. Some users have reported that they are experiencing a ghosting issue with the software-mapped buttons on the Pixel 2 XL.

This is because Google has not coded the buttons to shift positions to change from time to time in an effort to prevent this issue. Samsung does this with the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 and so far the decision has been a home run for the company.

Perhaps the next OTA update will allow software buttons to shift their position from time to time. Unfortunately, the screen burn-in issue for some smartphone owners is going to remain a permanent headache.

Some Pixel 2 units were shipping without having the OS installed

Even if you’re a company as big as Google, you are prone to making mistakes, but a silly one such as this is unacceptable. Some owners, including the one who posted the image, revealed that they received their Pixel 2 phones without the operating system installed.

For some, the return procedure was a nightmare but in the end, Google managed to accept its mistake and decided that the right thing to do would be to give customers a replacement unit and that is exactly what happened.

Clicking noise in Pixel 2 earpiece

If you’re a Pixel 2 owner and if you’ve heard the hissing or clicking noise from the phone, you’re not alone in this matter. Though Google has managed to acknowledge the issue and come back swinging with a software update, chances are the issue might persist on some phones. If this happens, it would be wise to request a replacement phone.

It is not easy being a being a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL owner at this point, but if Google has accepted its mistake and has decided to man up and roll out software updates, then perhaps you guys can let it slip that you spent a small fortune on a smartphone.
