Pintrest launches ‘Lens’, a visual search feature

0

Pintrest recently launched a new feature called ‘Lens‘ which allows users to search for different things using visuals. The beta update has been rolled out to Pintrest users in USA.

How this feature works is quite simple. While searching you click the red camera button and select the image of the things you want to search. The app will then provide you with different suggestions and recommend boards related to what you are looking for. Like the new sofa at your friends place, snap an image and use Lens to see where it is available and how you can also get something similar.

Developers at Pintrest have been working on this feature since last year and the beta update was rolled out to a select group of people. Now the company is pushing things ahead and rolling out this update to everyone in the USA. As this is the beta update, keep this in mind that things aren’t perfect yet. So, at times you may not find the specific thing that you are looking for. If you face any issue, provide feedback to the team so that such issues can be worked on before Lens is rolled out for a global launch. This is what the company had to say about Lens,

It is pretty good with recipe ingredients and outfit ideas. And if you Lens a throw pillow, chair or piece of art over at your friend’s house, you should turn up some great ideas. But Lens is still learning, and doesn’t always recognize exactly what you’re looking.
