As you guys might have heard, India surpassed US to become the world’s second largest smartphone market. Now Oppo, a China based company, just announced that it will start manufacturing 1 million 4G supporting smartphones per month in India. This announcement was made by none other than Mr Mike Wang, CEO Oppo India. Mr Wang further added that the the smartphone’s design will be prepared in China but the manufacturing will be carried out in Oppo owned production facility located in Noida. The CEO also stated that the the 4G phones will be launched after necessary local level customization have been made according to the Indian Market.
Currently, Foxcon is manufacturing Oppo smartphones in India. However Mr Wang made it clear that the arrangements with Foxconn will remain intact even after the production facility in Noida starts producing output. Unfortunately, details regarding the specifications of the models to be manufactured haven’t been released yet, though acording to official statement the handset will lie somewhere in between INR 10,000 and 20,000 ($150 and $300).
