OnePlus 6 is coming soon. The Chinese giant is all set to ride the wave of its success triggered by its handsets. OnePlus has a track record of building great phones in a very friendly budget. Their recent flagship, the OnePlus 5T was warmly welcomed by the audience as well. OnePlus opted for massive design changes on the OnePlus 5T. The smartphone industry’s stage is waiting to see another masterpiece coming out in the form of OnePlus 6.

The OnePlus 6 was expected to come out in June 2018, but the recent rumors have suggested that the phone will be unveiled by the end of April 2018. OnePlus is definitely working hard on the release of OnePlus 6. There have been numerous tweets hinting towards what the company is working on. In the meanwhile, we will take a look at all the news and rumors about the OnePlus 6. Let’s go through the OnePlus 6 news, specs, features, price & release date.

OnePlus following Apple’s footsteps, NOTCH is on its way!

Apple’s bold move of adding a notch to the iPhone X seems to have impressed a lot of Android phone manufacturers. The notch on iPhone X was greatly criticised and was even cited as a design flaw by some. However, the acceptance for the notch in the display of iPhone X just kept growing and it ended up attracting masses.

Android manufacturers are now blatantly following Apple’s footsteps and they are desperately copying the notch. ASUS added a notch to its latest Zenfone 5 flagship. Vivo added a notch to its V9 and then Huawei added a notch to its P20 series.

The only thing where these Android manufacturers differentiated was the customization that can change the look of the Notch. For example, you can turn the whole notch strip black or keep it simple as the notch on the Huawei P20.

In an exclusive interview given to The Verge, OnePlus’s co-founder asked the users to love the notch. The Steve-Jobs fan, Carl Pei, wants the OnePlus fans to get ready for a notch that’s going to be smaller than that of the iPhone X and bigger than the Essential’s phones notch. The size of the notch was also revealed in that interview. OnePlus 6’s notch will have the dimensions of 19.616mm x 7.687mm.

Another key point to note here is the notch adjustment while a video is being played or a photograph is being viewed on the phone. iPhone X’s notch looks terrible when you are watching a video or browsing through your gallery. There is no way to cover up the notch or hide it. OnePlus, however, wants to disguise the notch during while the media plays on the phone.

Carl Pei also tells The Verge that he doesn’t simply want to copy the iPhone X’s design. He wants to come up with a better and a flexible notch.

Ever since the CEO pointed towards the display features of the OnePlus 6, it has caused an outrage among the OnePlus enthusiasts and some are just okay with it. Let’s see how things turn out for OnePlus once the OnePlus 6 sees the light of the day.

OnePlus 6 Design, Display & Build

So far, a handful of leaks have suggested that OnePlus 6 will follow the design language of the OnePlus 5T. The company is going to use a 6.28-inch display on the phone. The rumors have also suggested that there isn’t going to be any resolution upgrade this year. The OnePlus 6 will probably come out with a full HD screen.

The only design change is the addition of the iPhone-X like-notch on the screen. The notch will have a speaker accompanied by the front-facing camera.

An image, that surfaced the web through ITHomes, shows the OnePlus 6 from the front and back. It can be seen that the phone has a glass back. While most of the phone manufacturers are adding a glass back to their flagships, it won’t be surprising to see OnePlus adding a glossy rear to its phone.

Another leaked image from the famous leaker Evan Blass shows the OnePlus 6 having a textured back. The image also reveals that OnePlus is changing the placement of the camera sensor on the phone. The camera sensor will now move to the center and it will have the fingerprint scanner underneath.

An on-screen optical fingerprint reader is not expected in this device. OnePlus 5T was not a water and dust resistant phone. We really hope that OnePlus adds water and dust resistance to the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 6 Hardware

In a blog post that goes by the title “Our pursuit of burdenless speed“, OnePlus’s CEO Pete Lau revealed how hard the company has been working on the upcoming OnePlus 6. The CEO also revealed that to achieve striking performance, OnePlus will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU, a RAM of 8GB and an internal storage chip of 256GB in the OnePlus 6.

The CEO also discussed the company’s FSE (Fast, Stable, Efficient) team who’s working on maximizing the performance of its phones for a better gaming experience.

OnePlus 6 will retain the headphone jack. This was revealed by the company’s co-founder in his interview to The Verge.  As far as the battery is concerned, according to a leaked spec-sheet, the OP6 will have a battery of 3,450 mAh.

OnePlus 6 Camera

The camera setup on the OnePlus 6 is going to remain the same as that of the OP5T. The OnePlus 5T makes the use of a dual-shooter at the back. The same dual-shooter having 20MP+16MP will make its way to the OP6. On the front, the phone will have a 20MP shooter for selfies.

The OnePlus 5T’s camera did not deliver what the users were expecting. Something went terribly wrong with the camera which disappointed a lot of its users. I personally tried the OnePlus 5T and I did not find its camera result up to the standards set by its rivals. Let’s hope that OnePlus works on the camera quality this time and improves it in the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 6 Software

The OnePlus 6 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo. OnePlus is one of the very few manufacturers that have a software close to Vanilla Android. The Oxygen OS on the OnePlus phones is extremely fast, stable and smooth. OnePlus also rolls out the updates in time. The OnePlus 6 will also have Oxygen OS running atop of Android Oreo. A stable software also remains the top priority of the company in order to satisfy its users.

OnePlus 6 Price & Release Date

OnePlus has a trend of introducing its new flagships in the month of June every year. This time, the company plans to change its trend and release the next flagship a bit earlier. The OnePlus 6 is slated for a release in late April 2018. No official release date has been confirmed yet. However, the way the company has been teasing the phone and dropping hints one after another, it looks like the phone is just around the corner.

OnePlus 6 will be more expensive than the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The phone will cost somewhere between $650 – $725. This price is still a lot lesser than the prices of flagships by the companies like Samsung, LG, and Sony.

That’s all folks. Let me know what do you think of the OnePlus 6 and what do you want to see on this phone. Stay connected with us to learn more about the OnePlus 6.
