Nokia has been in the news for the past few days, courtesy of their newly launched Nokia 6 and an upcoming Nokia E1. HMD Global has procured the licence for producing Nokia branded smartphones. Recently they launched the Nokia 6 exclusively for the Chinese market. Even the Nokia E1 is a mid range smartphone which is also expected to be launched for the Chinese market. Now a new post by Nokia on their official Facebook page suggests that they have more in store for us and it will be announced on 26th February.

26th February is just a day before the MWC 2017 start in Barcelona and we are expecting LG and Samsung to unveil their first flagships for the year there. It seems as if Nokia is not deterred by the competition and will be unveiling some smartphones, most probably with a more global market place in mind. At the moment there are no hints or even rumors to what Nokis has in store for the MWC launch but they have asked everyone to ‘Save the Date‘.

To date the Nokia smartphone brand under HMD Global’s leadership has focused on producing mid range smartphones which aim at the Chinese market as they believe that there is a lot of potential for growth there. It would be great to see the company take on a challenge and unveil a high end smartphone for the global marketplace. If they employ a strategy akin to what OnePlus employs. One Plus brings out amazing devices with premium specs and a mid range price point. Even with the increased competition, a great device can make its mark. Let’s see what Nokia will be announcing on 26th February at the MWC.
