After Nokia made a terrible decision to team up with Microsoft for its Windows Mobile operating system, switching to Android was not just the best, it was perhaps the only choice for the manufacturer. However, here we will be taking a look at the feature phones from the manufacturer, and they have been doing very well.

Nokia smartphones are high in demand and caused shipments growth in 3rd quarter of 2017

According to IDC, feature phones belonging to the company have been doing extremely well for the Q3 2017 period in the Middle East. Where smartphones have seen a decline in shipments by 4.9 percent QoQ in Q3 2017, the Nokia feature phones have seen an increase in those shipments; 13.0 percent increase QoQ in Q3.

Nokia was the top feature phone vendor with 90.8 percent share of the feature phone market. It increased its feature phone shipments by 18.3 percent QoQ. Looking at the success of these feature phones, which right now the best one to buy is the 3310, the company might introduce a refresh in 2018, which could come with better features while offering extensive battery life to the user.

While we could be seeing an appearance of HMD Global and Nokia at CES 2018, it would be more fitting to see representatives from both companies make an appearance at MWC 2018, since CES 2018 will have a huge number of manufacturers present, which might steal some of that spotlight away from Nokia.

According to industry sources, Strategy Analytics is also showing confidence in HMD’s strategy by betting Nokia Phones to one of the drivers of smartphone shipment growth in 2018. Here is another interesting fact for you, Google published the list of the 10 most searched consumer devices in 2017 and the new 3310 managed to obtain the 6th rank.

As for the Nokia 6, which was the first Nokia phone to run the Android operating system obtained the number 10 position in terms of searches.
