Nokia P1 to be announced at the MWC next month

Nokia has already hinted in the caption of a promo video that they will announce something on 26th February. That is one day before the MWC kicks off in Barcelona. Not only Nokia but other brands like LG, Lenovo and Huawei will be gracing the event. According to new rumors Nokia will be unveiling their Android powered high-end smartphone the Nokia P1 at the event.

Till yet Nokia has only released Nokia 6, a mid range device for the Chinese market. The smartphone is expected to go on sale on 19th January and it has already secured approximately 1 million registrations. A few days back there was a rumor that Nokia 8 was seen at the CES earlier this month, but later on that turned out to be a hoax.

Nokia P1 will be based on Sharp Aquos with enhanced specs as it will be high end smartphone competing with the likes of Samsung, HTC, LG and Huawei to name a few. According to the report by Worket, Nokia P1 will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with a 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal memory. In addition a 22.6 MP main camera will adorn the device.

We may very well be looking at a new Nokia smartphone at the MWC but we doubt that the said specifications are true. At the moment Snapdragon 835 SoC is only being used by Samsung’s upcoming flagship the Galaxy S8. Apart from that HMD Global beforehand said that they will be focusing on China with mid range devices. More Nokia smartphones will be announced this year but we are doubtful if a high-end device is in the cards for the MWC.
