Motorola Sets its Eyes on the Indian Market

Motorola has set and declared its goals for 2015, they are planning to become the 3rd largest smartphone maker in India. Well this is the second news that we have covered that focuses on the Indian smartphone market. The reason for the this strategic focus on key markets, especially the Indian market is that it is the fastest growing smartphone market in the world and there is a lot of potential for manufacturers to make their mark as global leaders.

Motorola seems to be doing just that, their COO, Rick Osterloh, believes that their company has a great chance to become global market leaders. After being acquired by Lenovo, currently Motorola is the third-largest smartphone maker in the world

In his recent visit to India, Rick Osterloh, announced his company’s plans for India. The company plans on launching affordable and economical 4G smartphones in 2015 and through this become India’s 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer. Motorola seems to have understood what it needs to do to gain an edge in the Indian market, where global leader like Samsung seems to be losing its ground due to competition presented by economical smartphones produced by Micromax and Xaomi.

Talking to Economic Times, the Motorola COO, clearly outlined his company’s vision for the future, he said,

‘India is absolutely essential (for global turnaround). India and Brazil are countries that we think first when we think about our business because that’s the future. The market here is growing incredibly quickly’.

What the company plans to launch is not yet confirmed. The company’s focus is providing an economical 4G connectivity smartphone. The success of Motorola’s plans rests on the smartphones they launch and how well they are received by the local consumers.
